Was thinking of maybe using some footage from this short fan film to improve Canto Bight? Boba Fett is in a dark bar/gambling/saloon like setting, and he shows a hologram (looking for a bounty.) If someone could use some VFX work to change the hologram from that character to Finn (from the “its weird that you recorded that” Scene, we could make it seem that Phasma has sent a bounty hunter (A Boba Fett who survived) to look for F12187, so she can exact revenge.

It could also imply that there is indeed a spy in the resistance, (shows how Fett got the hologram.)

I would love to see an a fan edit extended cut of TLJ. The one’s mostly finished like Luke In Mourning, Not Much Of A Sewer, It’s Kind Of Weird You Recorded That (I notice the last shot you see a little bit of BB8’s puppeteer), Caretaker Sizes Up Rey, CareTaker Village Sequence (Bagpipes exist in the Star Wars Universe!!!), Mega Destroyer Incursion (I realize the film version is the alternate shorter version but you could keep both versions which is what I would like to see. I find it intresting as a whole extended scene.) Their’s shot that would have to reorder but in my mind it could work. The Shot of Kylo on The Bridge could be one or two place. The first in between where Finn and Rose are telling Poe they found a codebreaker and have the Shot of Ren looking over the bridge then Rey getting in the escape pod. The 2nd place would be after Flacon escape pod is launch and heads towards Snoke ship, the Ren Shot could be put there. I prefer the 1st Now for the Finn, Rose and The Code Breaker infiltration. Keep the original scene just cut out “Almost There” (That’ll come in later) everything else plays out. After Snoke’s line “Young Rey, Welcome”, this is how I would go about the rest of the deleted scene. Go right into the scene where the elevator door opens with the 3 of them. You’d have to cut the BB8 shots being theirs a trash bin over him and he doesn’t have it when he peeps behind the legs. The only way I could see it working if you’d keep it, is putting it before they exit the laundry room. The shot of Finn putting the bin over BB8 would be cut being he’s obviously already done that. In the deleted scene he say’s Almost There like in the original version but with a different background. After Finn say’s “Right around the corner.” you can put the part where BB8 runs into the wall from the movie.) Finn and Rose Go To Where They Belong being the last. Now the one that wont work due the most shots having pre-visuals would be the Alternate Opening, Paige’s Gun Jams, Extended Fathier Chase (Who really wants this one?), Rose Bites The Hand That Taunts Her, Phasma Squeals Like A Whoop Hog (I love this Alternate Scene better then what we got in the film and hope to see someone complete the visuals and render it up), lastly Rey and Chewie On The Falcon. I know theirs fan extended projects of the Star Wars films and hope someone tackles a Extended Ep.8. I know I’m probably am not the only one who would like it?

All my life as I looked away to the future, to the horizon. Never in my mind did I know where I was, what I was doing.

Personally I wouldn’t make a purely extended cut since I feel like trimming small bits here and there too but I would like to use most of the scenes you mention. Someone will probably make a regular extended cut too.

Not to be rude but, what is your status on the Yoda face-replacement project?

That’s not rude! 😛 I don’t have the movie yet, so I haven’t started.

No offense but I would like to see paragraphs. Posting like this makes it really hard to read.

Sorry, It was early in the morning. I never really made a long post like that before. I’ll think of doing that in the future.

Instead of Rey leaving because of Luke trying to kill Ben, what if she leaves following the caretaker sequence. Earlier in the movie she says the rebellion needs Luke Skywalker, but in the caretaker sequence she says she doesn’t believe in the legend anymore. A better reason to leave imo. The only problem with this is you’d have to sneak in Rey believing in Kylo’s redemption somehow.

Looking at some of the deleted footage:

-The theatrical first Finn/Poe discussion (with Finn in the liquid-spewing suit) can now be replaced with the deleted Finn/Poe discussion.

-The shots of BB-8 with the AT-ST rescuing Finn and Rose can now be safely removed, since there is a deleted scene of Finn and Rose speaking in the escape shuttle. By adding that deleted scene, there’s now plenty of clarification that Finn and Rose escaped on a shuttle.

Oh that’s cool ! As if Johnson was aware people would like to fanedit his movie 😃

I think it’s more a case of that’s how the film originally was, and the studio said “we need more humor. Cut these scenes out and make them funnier.”

Didn’t realize you were involved in the production and in the know about what Disney requested, cool, my bad.

Was not saying that. I was merely wagering a guess as to why scenes were changed.

Considering the scenes in question had humor added to the version that was released, it stands to reason the people involved saw the rough cut and said there needs to be a humor beat here.

I think your first mistake is thinking those scenes were changed. Seems like those deleted scenes were in addition to, not instead of what’s there in the theatrical.

(second mistake would be assuming that if something got changed it had to be someone other than Rian making that decision)

The Phasma scene proves pretty clearly that BB-8 driving the AT-ST was always a thing, and the elevator scene has way more out of place comedy than the replacement infiltration scenes that were in the movie, so I don’t really buy the “reshoots to add more comedy” thesis.

I’m not assuming anything. I’m taking an educated guess based on my own industry experience and a knowledge of Johnson’s previous work. He’s not known for the kind of humor presented here, whereas its present in every new Star Wars release thus far, so it’s reasonable those kinds of decisions were made at a corporate level. And many scenes were very clearly alternate, if not necessarily the ones in question.

At the end of the day I was nonchalantly wagering an educated guess to the behind the scenes thinking behind these particular changes and I still can’t wrap my head around why you’re responding with so much negative hostility.

The “add more comedy” statement was more of an example of general studio interference. “We didn’t like x about this, so add y”

No, Rian has stated in multiple interviews that he wanted to put a lot of humor into the film.

That seems like an overstatement, my first post was literally just the word no.

Only because the Corporate Suits at Disney made him say it.

You’re right. That was a very well thought out, positive response to a meaningless anecdote.

I didn’t say it wasn’t negative, just not hostile. In my mind a hostile post would have gone through all the ways you were wrong right off the bat, which would have been an overreaction considering your post was, like you say meaningless, so so was mine. I guess I could have said “you’re wrong,” or “that’s incorrect,” instead, might have been a bit more thought out, but I’m not sure how I could have responded in the positive to a post that’s totally inaccurate.

Shh, no duh, why do you think I’m defending the movie at all, Disney’s got my family held at gunpoint.
