I’m on the same page. I more feel sorry for the guy, actually. I mean, he did make some terrible moves with the PT, but it occurs to me that the bones of a good story are there, if only the scripts had been tweaked a bit, a couple different casting choices, and most importantly a different director(s).

Yeah, those movies were almost good… well, except for the writing, the acting, the directing, and the plot. He really had something there, such a shame that it didn’t work out.

I’m watching the digital copy of TLJ right meow. I’m disappointed to say I don’t love it as much as I did in theaters. It’s still pretty good, but the flaws it has are pretty annoying. Fortunately the highs are still pretty high, but the lows bother me more at home. Some of it might be due to being currently separated from a girl that I deeply love who we loved to watch star wars together and she had never seen them before but she fell in love with them watching them with me, and as a result of being heartbroken over the separation (unclear if it is permanent) my enthusiasm for star wars is pretty much gone.

Oh, and funny how even though they used a puppet for Yoda he somehow looks more like cgi in a couple of shots than the prequel Yoda. Love the scene for the dialogue, but Yoda just looks terrible.

I watched a bit of it last night before bed, and I actually thought Yoda looked pretty good and very ESB puppet-like most of the time.

But there are definitely moments when he looked bad, and the mouth is awkward most of the time.

I expected it to be another mediocre corporate blockbuster, and it was. This is coming from somebody who doesn’t like Marvel movies though.

The idea was to illustrate how some Interwebber could take even SilverWook’s own words and, due to the stupidity of taking those words out of context, use them to launch such a rumor. I figured you guys would pick up on my facetiousness, but it was an overly subtle miscommunication that obviously backfired. Again, I apologize.

Never meant to imply anyone’s brains here are “puny” - in fact, they’re the opposite. (Believe me, I don’t spend time on forums where the discussion lacks intelligence.) I just think my original intent was obscured by a poor use of satire, and if someone else had done it, I likely wouldn’t have taken it positively, either.

Wow - it really sounds like they’ve done a stellar job with the transfer. Let’s hope this sets a benchmark, leading swiftly to more 4K Star Wars…

The HDR alone is worth it if you have a capable display, even if it’s not large enough to truly notice the added resolution.

With a projector this can actually be cheaper than you think. I have a 120 inch screen and everything together it probably cost about $800, and that’s even including the surround system I got to go with it.

Granted I got a bit lucky with the projector finding a Chinese knockoff for around $400. But the only thing that seems “cheap” about the presentation is it’s interface, it’s gui is quite tacky, but I don’t have to use it much and I’d consider it a well worthy trade off for saving 300 or more bucks on it.

The real trick is having the perfect room for it, so I was lucky there as well.

It also sadly isn’t 4k, but it’s 1080P looks gorgeous enough for me.

I guess that makes this post completely off topic, but just wanted to chime in and say having a huge screen isn’t as insurmountable as some think. Especially if 1080P is good enough for you. A TV that size would be unspeakably expensive.

That site is really all about the technical specs but for sure, the reviewer at bluray.com admits he is a former ‘hater’…

“I hated The Last Jedi after seeing it theatrically. In fact, I had written an anger- and spite-filled page-and-a-half of notes ready to turn into this review. Some of those criticisms still made it into this final publication, but much of it did not. The film plays a fair better, though still with massive flaws, on a second viewing, especially a few months removed from its theatrical debut, allowing time to process it, to filter through the thoughts, to understand with more intimacy what, exactly, it is Johnson wanted to achieve with the film. In fact, “redemption” is a word that comes very close to describing thoughts after a second viewing.”

I’m surprised to read a dismissive comment about 4K on this site. I thought OT forum was very much built around wanting the very best ‘technical’ presentation of Star Wars, from sound, to accurate colour representation, to resolution - aren’t these technical aspects fundamental to Originaltrilogy.com? Or do forum members actually not care that much?

Well, 2001 is actually on the way to 4K.

Silverwook, I do fully understand - it is a financial stinger to upgrade, and the amount of 4K content is still rather low.

I think most people need some sort of extra ‘motivation’ to splash out on UHD. For some gaming is the catalyst (with PS4 Pro and Xbox One X), for others it might be a particular movie - such as The Last Jedi or 2001. We are still a little way off from regular TV shows being routinely broadcast in 4K.

But you don’t need a 100" screen to see a difference, I’d say anything from 50" upwards is going to treat your eyes to very obvious, unambiguous next level visuals when compared to 1080p.
