That’s actually true. I think the petition is bs, but what happened to respecting the minorities? If it was the PT people would be fine with it. In fact when it was the PT people here were more than fine with it.

Recently there was a comment in this very thread where someone said we shouldn’t treat PT fans like people. I found that to be very rude and possibly ban worthy. I used to be a PT fan myself when I was younger and several little kids I know are PT fans.

I’d most certainly ridicule a petition that tried to do the same thing for the PT. The concept is just plain dumb as shit. These people need to grow up.

So while we’re at it, how about we stop treating people who like the ST like people? Or stop treating people that like MARVEL movies like people? Or how about stop treating someone with a certain sexuality like people because they are attracted to X instead of the majority’s Y?

I hope I don’t get banned for this, but come on.

Making “people who don’t like Disney SW movies” out to be a minority on par with people with different sexual orientations is… misguided, to say the least.

That wasn’t what I was referring to. I was referring to someone trashtalking PT fans. And all are groups of people that should be equally respected nonetheless.

PT fans were the direct comparison, but the whole point from the start of your post was to compare to minority of non-ST fans with the minority of PT fans. Either way you really shouldn’t be comparing them to minority groups that actually matter.

Good. So we’re allowed to say “let’s not treat PT fans like people” because that’s not a minority that matter? That was my only critic.

Did I say that? No. I’m just saying it’s incredibly fucking ignorant to pretend that some guy saying (obviously jokingly) on the internet that PT fans “aren’t people” is on the same level of minorities that actually face real discrimination.

Disagree, all kinds of discrimination are bad imo. I’m not saying that you’re saying otherwise though.

Funny because Dre said something he thought was harmless too, and it eventually got Frink banned. I see the same situaion here.

For the people that like TLJ and obviously can’t accept that there is a portion of the fan base that don’t - you do realise that you are not obligated to respond and if you do, maybe you could be a little more considerate and respectful in your responses rather than insulting and deriding.

Perhaps you think you’re being treated unfairly?

I think most companies that would be target of boycotts today are too big for a boycott to hurt or affect them in any way, like Disney.

Religious groups targeted Disney (or at least tried to) in the late 90’s. They were upset over gay days in the parks and domestic partner benefits for employees. I once saw a book on why and how to boycott the Mouse. Ironically, it was in the clearance bin.

100k confirmed butthurt fanboys.

Hmm, I could be wrong, but are you (and some others) using the term fanboy correctly? Isn’t a fanboy someone who consumes whatever the producer of [insert product name here] produces, just because it bears that franchise name, regardless of quality? If that’s the case, then wouldn’t an actual fanboy be infatuated with every single SW film that’s been made . . . ?

Last Jedi blu ray purchases will outnumber petition signers.

True, but for some of us purchasers - me included - it’ll be for the purpose of attempting to fix at least a portion of what Disney’s done wrong. 😃

The common theme in your first and last couple of posts indicate that as long as a minority isn’t part of a worthy cause in your opinion then it’s ok to discriminate and belittle them.

Come on man, think about what YOU are saying…

People jokingly saying mean things about certain SW fans on the internet isn’t exactly what I’d consider discrimination. I shouldn’t have to explain the difference here.

What you think I’m saying is not what I’m saying at all.

Just want you all to know I intend to see every Disney Star Wars movie and then come here to complain about them.

If we can reduce Collipso’s comment to “treat people you disagree with in a respectful way,” we should be in okay shape. Another member called those who like the PT “irrational.” Even as a joke I don’t think it flies if I call those who like TLJ “irrational.” And maybe not everyone can take a joke.

That said I hope I’m invited to the wedding when Dom and TLJ finally tie the knot.

Is it not ok to say mean things jokingly about minorities that suffer more than PT fans simply because they suffer more? I can see where you’re coming from Dom, but I think that if a person gets hurt in any way because of what they like or stuff like that, that is discrimination. And I’m sure that PT fans felt offended to some degree by the joke, much like I did, because I was once a PT fan myself.

Anyway, are we going to have to agree to disagree?

Edit: read Mrebo’s post and you’re all set.

Just because I say the comparison is ridiculous and ignorant (at best) doesn’t mean I think we shouldn’t treat PT fans like real people (something which again is not actually happening).

I’m just saying it’s a fucking dumb comparison. It’s like if I forgot to bring my lunch to work and then said “I’m suffering, just like people dying of starvation in Africa.”

And you’ll take TLJ from my cold dead hands, thank you very much. She’s mine.
