I can't find Monster Squad ANYWHERE on myspleen. where the hell is it??

Rik, that sounds like a great idea. In the end it would cost basically nothing. Who on the forums can capture the 5.1 track tho? I didn't think anyone here had that capability. I'd be down for $20-30. Would have t cut you a check or money order tho. I'm not using my PayPal account right now.

Rik PM'ed me this idea and I like it a lot. How would the logistics be worked out? Pemdawg, I know you said you're not into PayPal right now, and that's fine, but it seems like it might be the easiest way. I'm sure we could work out a way to still contribute, i.e. sending a check/MO to someone who could deposit it to their bank acct, then transfer to PayPal.

Also, I'd like everyone to bear in mind that the auction ends on the 26th and I leave for a week-long vacation (with no internet access) on the 24th. I'll have someone here monitoring the auction and whatnot, but the point I'm trying to make is that if a PayPal account is going to be set it, that needs to be done in the next 3 days.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I could send a money order or check to Rik. Who would monitor the auction and bid, since you will be absent for its end?

I was going to appoint my girlfriend, but if someone here wanted to take it up, I wouldn't object. It would probably be less hassle all around. My only concern would be that I was going to pad the PayPal account with a bit of extra money of my own and I'd be a bit hesitant to let someone I don't have direct personal experience with to have access to that.

REGARDING THE FRIGHTENERS

I have the originals on DVD, however, it is the same versions shown in the pictures in the above thread. Originally, at the time I did not have a PC DVD burner so I used a burner disc. This the quality that is shown in the picture.

However, the copy I have is direct from the laserdisc as the transfer was poor in the first place. There is no perfect looking Frighteners.
Granted though by copying them in SP and the 4 hour doc in EP I did lower the quality even more.

Now that I have a DVD PC Dual disc writer I plan on sending those to Rikter which in turn can give you guys copies.

The copy I have is a 4 disc set, but if i send Rikter 2 duel layer disc the quality will be that of the original.

Like I said, if you are looking for digitally remastered or something like that it never existed, the quality I have is that of the Criterion Blader Runner.

Hope this helps..

I am burnung them as we speak, and they look great.. the movies however start right away with no menus. I just got this PC with a movie making DVD program that cost mesome bucs but I haven't figured out how to create menus.

peace all

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

I don't know if you have considered EZSniper Reverend but not only does it do your bidding in your absence but it can also save you truckloads at the wire. What's more - your first three auctions are free.

Frightners....

We have a few days to bang out the details so I think that the Rev and myself will get this figured out in the next 2 days.

Pemdawg has also offered to kick in on this so between the two of use we're good for $60 + what ever the Rev can do SO I have a feeling this LD is ours..

NOW the question is WHO will capture it?

Mitch, thanks for the offer, and that is pretty tempting, but I think that actually getting a good rip of the LD set itself, created properly, will do us a lot more good than any way it has previously been captured. Plus, with the fact that we're probably not going to lose much, if any, money on this, there's really no reason NOT to do it.

And as I've said before, I've discussed this with MeBeJedi and he's up for the task. Rik, check your email, I'm movin' this outta PMs

Thanks for the link! I thought of using that service once before but did not once I learned of their charges. Now that the first few auctions are free, I see no reason to not use it.

Hello.
First post, although I've been lurking for many months.

I'd be happy to throw in some money to help out with this. I can contribute anywhere up to about $80 or so if need be.

Drowningman, that's great to hear.

I've set up a PayPal account, so anyone who wants to donate to this, can. When the entire process is over, the item will be re-sold on eBay and the money made from that will be divided up proportionally. If we get more than we paid, then we all make a little. If we get less, then I doubt we lose much. The email address to make donations to is brualhupit at hotmail.com.

I have opened an EZSniper account and set the high bid at around $200, although I'm hoping that much won't be needed. If anyone has any further questions, email me at reverendbeastly at gmail.com

Boomstick: It's cool, no rush. I think we're all going to be very happy with this project in the end.

Alfredsson: Man, that's really generous of you. Hope the transfer doesn't disappoint!

Rik: Thanks, buddy, for your work now and your future work on this project. This is gonna have some fiiiiine casing.

General people: I'm setting up a new thread for this later today. I'm going to put it in this forum because that's where people know to look for it, but if zion deems it necessary, it may move to Off Topic.

Slightly off topic here, but this is an off topic thread to start with.

I am planning, once I get my DVD burner to do a preservation of the mid-90's TV series VR5.

It had a single crappy VHS release that skipped an episode and had a different soundtrack (to save money).
I have OK vhs copies from their original broadcast (and the unaired episodes were sent to me from Canada). I'm going to take them to DVD for my own purposes either way, I just wondered if there are other's interested in these if it ever gets finished?

I never watched VR5, but I'd love to get copies of "Automan".

[EDIT] I just found it on DVD on Ebay. LOL! Am I the only one who remembers this show?

oh, i remember automan, mebe...what a show! ah, to be eight and stupid again.

while we're on non-SW, off-topic preservation, i also have something to throw into the mix...i found an old tape I bought at a con of Batman material from the sixties TV show. old promos, convention footage, etc. it's been years since I watched it; i don't recall it being in super great quality, but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any of it pop up on any filesharing (to the best of my knowledge).

there's gotta be a DVD worth of stuff on there, if anyone would be interested in doing the magic thing where the VHS becomes a DVD. i'd gladly send it off for transformation if this toots anyone's horn. lemme know.

I am taking my time with, and might even eventually finish transferring my Criterion laser disc of The Fisher King. Not so much a transfer, but trying to append the director's comm to the released DVD, as well as the deleted scenes, costume tests, scene analysis and trailers, none of which made the jump to DVD. Has anyone else done it? Is anyone interested?

I actually just bought a copy of this disc in hopes of basdically doing the same thing. I also bought the Criterion version of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.

Adding the director's commentary would be a piece of cake, but I doubt you'd have enough room on the DVD for all the extra material - unless you shrunk down the movie. It would probably be worthwhile to make it a 2-DVD set.
