Sorry, but no. I’m not entirely anti-Special Edition. There were places where simple updating of the f/x was effective (e.g., the Death Star battle). Sure, back in the day they were limited to either a Muppet or a made-over midget for a character like Yoda. Having gone with the Muppet option, a justified, and effective, modernization would have been CGI.
Which is why, given what Lucas was willing to change - such as Greedo shooting first - it was absolutely absurd to me that he didn’t CGI Yoda’s mouth movements (not the whole Muppet), which had already been proven to work so well in Babe. This limited CG option would’ve worked well for the prequels too (for the Nemoidians also, not just for Yoda).
