No. I didn't need to know anything else. Star Wars is a great, complete story.

I agree - I was talking about the production itself. It seems very "packaged", not as gritty and far far away. I also think you're absolutely right - being familiar with the characters takes away some of the mystery - they aren't as far away any more. That's what I meant above regarding the sequel - I didn't want to be familiar with them. I wanted to keep that feeling of far far away adventure.
