defense of Polanski’s raping of a child
Didn’t he apologize for those comments at some point?
Maybe, but I doubt it was much more than noncommittal vagueness to save his reputation. He also abused and nearly killed Uma Thurman on the set of Kill Bill, and has likely done much more that we just don’t know about (yet).
I also find it ridiculous when people refuse to watch/buy good films because terrible people in real life, and sometimes not even bad people but just disagreements. (no offense)
I’ll probably watch some of his works in the future, and maybe I’ll like them, maybe I won’t. Either way, I’ll wait until he’s dead to buy them.
EDIT: What the battery man said.
Like I said, I just find that mentality to be a little ridiculous. They’re still rich and famous, we aren’t stopping that by not buying a couple blu-rays. I mean, whatever floats your airplane, but I don’t care if someone’s an asshole in real life when enjoying high quality art.
