I got banned from the Star Wars subreddit for telling someone how to get the Despecialized editions. GG

I don’t know why I keep going back to that place.

"Daily reminder that Rouge[sic] One was a masterpiece"

“DAE think the prequels were not that bad?”

“I know the prequels are controversial, but if there’s one thing we can all agree on…”

And you have click on the thread to finish the sentence because this poster decided to take a page out of the BuzzFeed playbook, and all it says is;

“the lightsaber fights were epic.”

And every time an upcoming movie is discussed, everybody is floating these goofy fan-fiction level ideas or things that have been said a thousand times before.

“I think we can all agree that the Obi-Wan movie should be a gritty western”

Or it’s someone pointing out a detail from a movie and providing a child’s analysis of it.

“Anakin force-choking Padme is subtle foreshadowing of the revelation that Darth Vader is actually Anakin”

“Anakin’s shadow right before he leaves to find his mother is a visual callback to the Darth Vader helmet. It’s so dense, every single frame has so much going on”

Looks more like Kylo Ren’s shadow now. 😛

Ugh, this is so fucking accurate.

Especially the Rogue One stuff. The movie was alright (in my opinion) but recently everyone has been saying stuff like “Rogue One is the best shot-- best looking movie in the Star Wars saga” and then they post the same 2 or 3 shots. I’m not saying the movie isn’t well shot but jeez one thread per year is enough.

I hate reddit. I don’t even care about the content, the format of the site is awful.

This.

Once upon a time, I used to frequent the Telltale Games forums, but they eventually changed their forum software to some Reddit-style awfulness. For the uninformed, on a reddit-style “forum”, individual threads have their own subthreads (and sub-subthreads, etc.), meaning replies to a post get nested into the one replied to. So having a pages-long normal running conversation like we do here, or reading all unread posts in a thread in chronological order starting with oldest, are basically impossible.

Anyway, after TTG changed their forum to this travesty of a “community”, many (most?) regular forum users jumped ship for other sites like Doublefine.

I actually know MusicallyInspired from hanging around the TTG and DF forums. Not sure anyone else from there hangs around here.

Thanks, dude. I’m glad I reached out, not something I’d normally do. I was embarrassed to spill out to a friend like that, but I did it anyway. I know I shouldn’t be. He has great about it. But I’ve resolved to put myself out there, now.

I kind of have this weird feeling lately. New town, new job in the last 9 months. I know lots of people here (old acquaintances from college, past jobs, and my current job) and spend lots of time with other people, but I’ve still been feeling kind of lonely lately. My close friends and family live hundreds of miles away, and I haven’t been able to form any intimate friendships here; I like the people plenty, and socialize outside work, but we’re just not alike in the right ways to feel any real connection.

Me in a nutshell. Only difference is that I don’t socialize out of school or even at the school, so I’m basically lonely 24/7. But things will get better.

I got spaghetti sauce on a good shirt. I put it through the wash twice, and the stains still won’t come out.

That sucks. Have you tried asking your family or friends?

Stained clothes are a trademark in my family, so I doubt they have any stain-removing knowledge in their databanks. And my friends are all in my head.

My mother-in-law has said you shouldn’t put stained clothes through the dryer because it makes it harder to get them out.

Try pouring a spot of liquid laundry detergent on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub at it with a brush (like one from your kitchen sink).

I also think I remember reading somewhere possibly using toothpaste, or club soda, or white vinegar.

Just dunk the whole thing in spaghetti sauce then run it through the dryer, problem solved.

Those are the best kinds of friends. Don’t have any good advice on the stain, except act really surprised when someone tells you there’s a stain on your shirt and declare it must have happened at breakfast/lunch, then ask if they have advice on getting out the stain, and if they do ask them if they will be your friend.

The blue elephant in the room.

It displeases me that humanism and secular humanism have become conflated. The core tenets of humanism resonate with me, but I’ll never be able to identify as humanist without causing others to believe I’m a rationalist/materialist/non-theist, which I most certainly am not.
