I consider modern DC & Marvel to be the comics equivalent of Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany.

Geez. You really have to go there? Is simply saying you don’t care for current DC and Marvel not sufficient?

Sorry. I keep letting my animosity for those two get the better of me. I edited my post.

A summation of everything I dislike about Marvel/DC, in no particular order:

  • events
  • reboots
  • writing for the trade
  • deconstruction
  • tasteless deaths/rapes/incest done for shock value
  • Greg Land-type artists
  • sliding timelines
  • resurrection of characters who should’ve remained dead (Norman Osborn/Aunt May/Barry Allen/etc.)
  • bad characterization
  • the illusion of change
  • nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia (single Peter Parker; the return of Krypto; etc.)
  • interminable title relaunches

The Big Two reached their peak in the Bronze Age/Copper Age. Everything since has been a downward spiral into stagnant, exploitative gimmickry.

Very enlightening! I had no idea Lucasfilm had handcuffed them even more after Jedi. Nor did I know sales were still great in the dead years after 1983.

Looks kind interesting

I have read it , I am glad Lucas consulted others and continued with further drafts , it was neat to see one of his original scripts as a comic book though and I enjoyed all of the Ralph Mcquarrie concepts they used . I was wondering what relevance it had to the old Marvel series and then I saw the name of Randy Stradley as the editor and remembered he wrote the original Marvel Star Wars 86 , The Alderran factor ,which was a very good story IMHO and one of the few instances where you see Leia process the loss of her homeworld

Not technically, since I believe IDW’s Star Wars Adventures is seperate from Marvel’s Star Wars titles, and I’m not sure of it’s official canonicity. Still, it is exciting news.
