and yes , Star Wars did save Marvel from going out of business back in the late 70s …http://www.tested.com/starwars/462380-remembering-original-marvel-star-wars-comics/
A shame in hindsight.
I still have the first set , though I did open the individual packs up . I lost the box they came in though . Which is a shame as it had a great Ken Steacy illustration in airbrush of Darth Vader on the front .

guessing you are not a fan of Marvel these days ?
I consider modern DC & Marvel to be crap factories.
I consider modern DC & Marvel to be the comics equivalent of Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany.
Geez. You really have to go there? Is simply saying you don’t care for current DC and Marvel not sufficient?
Where were you in '77?
Sorry. I keep letting my animosity for those two get the better of me. I edited my post.
Thank you!

he is entitled to his opinion , and it is just that , an opinion . I have to admit that I am curious to the reason behind his animosity though .
A summation of everything I dislike about Marvel/DC, in no particular order:
The Big Two reached their peak in the Bronze Age/Copper Age. Everything since has been a downward spiral into stagnant, exploitative gimmickry.
so what do you think of the current Marvel Star Wars line ?
Aside from the Lando and Han miniseries’, I haven’t enjoyed a bit of it.
those were good series , do you feel the series fits into the list of things you listed as your dislikes though ? and if so , why ?
interesting interview with one of the writers of the original series…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVU0Dz9t1kQ
Very enlightening! I had no idea Lucasfilm had handcuffed them even more after Jedi. Nor did I know sales were still great in the dead years after 1983.

The art is vibrant, but fails to convey motion. And I failed to understand why Jedi and Sith were both depicted using red lightsabers while stormtroopers were shown with silver.

I have read it , I am glad Lucas consulted others and continued with further drafts , it was neat to see one of his original scripts as a comic book though and I enjoyed all of the Ralph Mcquarrie concepts they used . I was wondering what relevance it had to the old Marvel series and then I saw the name of Randy Stradley as the editor and remembered he wrote the original Marvel Star Wars 86 , The Alderran factor ,which was a very good story IMHO and one of the few instances where you see Leia process the loss of her homeworld
also updated gallery with a watercolor and ink inspired by Dark Empire , felt appropriate as Dark Empire was originally slated to be a Marvel project …https://screamsinthevoid.deviantart.com/art/Dark-Empire-Luke-728765343
and a cool retro blog telling of the Dark Empire / Marvel connection…http://starlogged.blogspot.com/2013/05/1990-star-wars-dark-empire-at-marvel.html
made more updates to Gallery this week ,most recently an homage to issue 44 , the final part of the Empire Strikes Back adaptation as well as some original pieces …https://screamsinthevoid.deviantart.com/
a cool role playing game site someone made based on the original Marvel Star Wars series with character bios and some kind of " where are they now ?" updates on the characters after the series ended …http://www.generic-hero.com/lost/index.html
Seems a certain character might finally be coming back…
OMG! And about damned time! 😛
I guess this worked!

Not technically, since I believe IDW’s Star Wars Adventures is seperate from Marvel’s Star Wars titles, and I’m not sure of it’s official canonicity. Still, it is exciting news.
