It would be quite helpful for new folks to really read the rules before hitting these sections just to get what they want and bolt. Google is your friend. Please use it.

I’ve been looking for a good file of original theater cut of “Conan The Barbarian” for ages, and I found your topic about it several times in later years, so I finally decided to subscribe and try contacting you. I would like to get my hands on you release somehow. Any help?

All the remastered versions I watched unfortunately ended up making cool original sound effects to disappear from new versions. I can point some examples if anyone is interested.

I managed to make a “personal release” some time ago, with the video from a torrent release (captured from cable tv - Unniversal Channel), and the audio from an old VHS I have (1.0 mono). The sound is good, I think, and very well synchronized with the mentioned video. If someone is interested at this audio, I would also like to share.

Finally own the great AU BD release for Conan the Barbarian which I have no need for the BD25 at all and no one else should either.

This release is confirmed to have the corrected audio AND video (the nightfilter issue), and the addition of the original mono track.

All I want is the US Theatrical Cut and not the bonus disc because as I mentioned I have the AU BD. Since I own the USA and AU BD which has three cuts, why should I get the USA DVD for the Theatrical Cut when I could have a custom BD50 instead? I don’t need a case either or coverart, just the disc since multi-disc cases exist.
If someone could PM me the link or whichever to Usenet that’d be fine.

Hello all! I signed up for Usenet specifically for this version of Conan the Barbarian, one of my all time favorite films. What Dark Jedi and YouToo (and others) have done sounds really amazing. But I have been unable to find CTB82USTC_TB on usenet for over 8 months!

I’m totally new to all of this so sincere apologies for being a complete neophyte. Anyone want to take pity on me and tell me what I’m doing wrong? I’m desperate to get this version of the film as I cannot stand the current official offerings on bluray.

This is for those currently not reading the rest of the thread.

http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Post-in-this-thread-to-request-an-invite-to-MySpleenorg-you-MUST-read-the-first-post/id/8592

I cannot guarantee anyone will give you an invite but I’d bet if you participated on the site instead of just coming for an invite and running someone would eventually decide to help out. It goes both ways anywhere things like this are talked about or done.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice and level-headed response. Makes perfect sense. When I originally came across this site, new registrations were suspended at that time. I’m certainly open and willing to contribute, suppose I just need to figure out where to begin.

A lot of these sites are new to me, like myspleen and Usenet, ect. I don’t torrent any films that I want to own, I actively buy blu rays and services like Netflix and so on. But obviously when something like a fan restoration creates a version of a film that doesn’t exist anywhere else, that’s another matter. Which is what drew me to this site and Mike Verta’s restoraton efforts for example.

Conan is a particular favorite of mine and it’s hard to believe that the best version of that film I currently own is the Laserdisc! I’ve read every page of this thread and have longed to see the film presented as it’s described here.

I work as a cinematographer so if there’s something I can be of help with, someone reach out and ask. I definitely actively work with color correction of motion pictures regularly so that may be a place to start.

The TeamBlu edition of Conan is not on Myspleen right now. Obtaining an invite won’t help you in your quest I’m afraid. For whatever reason this release has been the most elusive of all of TeamBlu’s work. I’ve only ever seen it once. I passed on it at the time and currently it along with Nurse 2D are the only releases I do not own.

Just wanted to say the 2013 Usenet posted files (currently 1448 days old) still fully assembled for me last night.
The project is very high quality. Thanks to the team for all your efforts.

Hi! Can someone please help me find the files on Usenet? I can’t find it, is it even still up somewhere?

I just came across this on another site:

“The scene that I know was from the theatrical cut is when Conan just burned his wife and the princess yells at him. Then a fade from Conan sitting to Conan prepping for the battle begins. On TeamBlu’s version the video slows down and a cut happens. This was probably due to lack of source for it to make properly.”

Is there actually something less than “definitive” on the TeamBlu release?

There is no slowdown on our release, we spent a long time making this release and going over it and over it, our US Theatrical is indeed 100% US Theatrical, this is my favorite movie and I/We wanted it done right, it was all timed to the US Theatrical DVD, plus all the cool goodies! and excellent artwork! so I hope that answered your question.

Absolutely. I watched that section of the release and noticed nothing wrong, but I wanted to double-check that I wasn’t somehow mistaken or missing something that someone else caught.

Awesome work, and many many thanks!

What a step up from the single-layer non-anamorphic Universal DVD that I’ve been clinging to for so many years out of desperation. I never thought the U.S. theatrical version would be so hard to come by.

Earlier in the thread there was a link to subtitles, but it’s now expired, so I ripped, corrected, and re-timed the English subs from the OOP Universal DVD to line up better with the TeamBlu release.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/xbcy71r18ds5cvq/Conan the Barbarian - TeamBlu%2C US Theatrical - English.srt

Incidentally, that DVD also contains French and Spanish subtitles, but I didn’t bother converting them.

I am really glad you liked it and saw there was no issue, like I said I just LOVE this BD we did, my favorite by far, really liked our Sheena BD as well lol, thanks for the subs I am sure some would love to have them, our earlier releases we admit to a lack of subs, but our later releases we started adding them, really miss working on all these projects and looking for goodies for extras and just plain old chatting about shit, maybe someday.

Thanks

Hi! Has anyone any possibility to explain me how to get this using Usenet? I am very new to this (like some others here I actually got an account on “Newshosting” only to download this gem (seems like really nice work!)) and I don’t know the way to find your work… (searched for an nbz, searched on websites, on the Newshosting software,…). So I’ve got everything setup to download this but I can’t find the files… Can anybody help me? Thanks you very much for any answer 😃

hi Dark Jedi
Is there anyway I can get a copy of Conan the Theatrical Cut HD. I have been trying to find a good copy of it for a while, but no luck. Also is your extended cut the same cut as the Blu-ray or did you add footage to it. Let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks jjdout

The extended cut is color corrected and the audio was fixed, if I remember right there were like 5 or 6 scenes where there was missing instruments or audio added.

Hi dark Jedi,
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. Is it possible to get a copy of your Conan Theatrical cut HD? Would love to see that again. I’m also interested in your Blu-ray edition of Private School, love that movie - Betsy Russell, so hot! Sorry to seem greedy, but I had to ask. Anyway thanks for your time.

Hello Dark Jedi:

Since it seems that TeamBlu is no longer on MySpleen, is there an alternative site to look for your releases?

I will share everything once I am able, and I mean everything! my PC is still shit and have no funds to fix it, Family stuff first, hell I cannot even download and burn all these kick ass Star Wars projects dropping and I am pissed over that, but oh well it is what it is right?

and to respond to the dude above, our extended cut version is way better then all the released versions, my opinion of course, I love the color and the fixed audio, though I have heard there are actually 1 or 2 releases that have it fixed but I have not confirmed it myself.

I could do screenshots from the AU Blu-ray disc I own, literally the best official release of the Extended Cut, if need be. Yes, it’s fixed. Please Theatrical Cut please when you can, thanks!
