I hate this scene because it totally ruins Jabba’s character as portrayed in ROTJ. In ROTJ he was far bigger and more forboding of a character that people (including Han) actually feared. In ANH he’s just a joke and it’s more like Han is pushing HIM around. Ridiculous. I’d never believe they were the same character if it weren’t for the name. I’d even buy that it was one of Jabba’s lesser hutt henchmen (the 97 version, anyway). I was so surprised when I saw that for the first time. How awful and unrepresentative of the actual ROTJ Jabba it looked. Awful. The Bluray one is more accurate, but I still feel like he’s too small, and that’s besides the jarring character inconsistencies.

Also, every CGI Jabba has a terrible voice. ROTJ Jabba actually sounded real. All CGI Jabba’s (TPM, TCW, Rebels (is he in Rebels? I don’t remember), ANH) voices sound like somebody just recorded something quick and pitched it down. Well…he was a little better in TCW.
