To anybody having trouble using the tools shown in the OP:
You can convert them to a myriad of other, simpler formats using the free, open-source VSDC suite from FlashIntegro (available at www.videosoftdev.com/). VideoSoft, the makers of VSDC, offer tutorials on how to use their format conversion tool, but honestly, it’s pretty self-explanatory.
I’ve used VSDC for a long time, the system is completely trustworthy, and even the free version I use has a lot of the functionality of more refined tools like Adobe Premiere, so I highly recommend it if the instructions in this topic don’t work for you.
