I think the “angular” aspect of the characters in CG Clone Wars was strange at first but in the end worked better for me than the “muppet” aspect of Rebels (the CG also got better and better all along the seasons). The work on the colors and the lightning also was amazing. (rebels have the advantage to have nice backgrounds inspired by Ian Macquarrie but it’s not enough to make it look better to me).
The stories were also more diverse and a lot crazier than most of the episodes of Rebels where you just follow a band of rebels in a ship doing mission after mission that just lead them to be in contact with the rebellion. It’s nice and all, but Clone Wars had a fucking planet set in another spacetime where lives a “father” figure that keeps the balance of the Force in order…
We visit the home world of the Sith, where Yoda meets the ghost of Darth Bane…
We have episodes with Tarkin and Ackbar on Mon Calamary, we have trilogies of Episodes about Obi-Wan’s romance or about the war, we have Episodes for kids, we have Episodes centered on the bad guys, on the underground world, etc…
There are also interesting things in Rebels like the Bendu character and some others things, but CW was just more interesting overall, even if I can understand that it could be seen as sometimes too crazy.
As a dude who grew up with the OT I should prefer Rebels, but nope. The Clone Wars, even with its prequels world, was simply more entertaining to me.
