Why don’t you do both versions. One with Episide IV A New Hope, and one just Star Wars. I would like both versions of it.
I would also use a creature, hero or villian done in the same way as the background.
I was hoping to remove that except for the criterion tab below, since it helps distinguish from the rest.

Back after a break. While I’m not planning on releasing the art for my box sets, I did promise to upload the sleeve art. Here are the cases, interiors and disc art from my box set. I’m also including prequel and sequel covers.
Below are a preview of just the covers, but ALL the art can be found at this link:
Original Trilogy: https://imgur.com/a/PilL1
Prequels: https://imgur.com/a/ntu7j
Sequels: https://imgur.com/a/ikHpb
Also, expect an all-new series of Star Wars covers soon.

Wait…these are just for criterion cases?? Dammit! Thought they were for standard 12.5 blu ray cases… I have no criterion cases, nor do I have the money yo buy them… -_-

Strange request I don’t own a printer and can’t really warent buying one just for a few prints
So my question is if I’m willing to pay a fee and postage would someone print this set of star wars Blu ray covers I’ve acquired off this forum
Is there a local print shop you could utilize?
Any local print shop will do these. You’d just have to supply double-sided glossy paper;don’t use the shop’s crappy paper. Print 100% on 8.5" x 11" and allow full bleed. The interior art will bleed off the edges and covers just barely fit. Make sure you print with crop marks on at 100%.
Best,
Ron
I try to avoid print shops as much as possible, due to copyright reasons. That’s why I just print with regular ink jet paper at home, just to be safe.

I noticed some inconsistencies with the prequel covers so I just updated my original post. Be sure to refer to that instead of the replies.

Print shops will often be willing to print the covers for you, and if you have them do it on glossy brochure paper, they will come out better than the ones you can make at home. My experience is that you just have to make it crystal clear that the prints are only for personal use and not distribution.
Print 100% on 8.5" x 11" and allow full bleed.
If people choose to print at home, I have always recommended 8.5" x 14", since some printers don’t handle margins of less than .25" very well.

Just so you know, the worst that would happen if you took some of your projects to a printshop is that they would say “no”. It’s not like there are copyright police that are going to come after you. 😃
You’re obviously a dedicated fan with a flare for graphic design. A printshop might be something worth trying.

Here’s my latest set. The covers all use Mike Mitchell’s profile portraits. Unfortunately, it probably won’t be completed as a set, as he’s never done any portraits of the prequel characters.
I’ve posted the covers below, but interiors and disc art can be found at the link:
ENJOY!

Current WIP. I really liked the Special Edition cases when I was younger. So I felt it was time to start recreating them, adding my own little touch.
^ Despite how good that looks, I personally won’t use it. The reason being is because of the picture. Even though it’s an amazing poster by Drew Struzan, it is still a representation of the Special Editions.

I agree lol. Yet I may do variations with other posters.
Lateset set. Will get the actual file uploads soon. I need a PDF splitter lol. But here are what they look like. if you see spelling errors please tell me, I am dyslexic and have issues haha
@Tyler0013, you’re using the Special Edition Empire logo for Empire on the spine, but for Return of the Jedi, it’s the classic logo on the spine, are you aware of that? Nice work though, I like the design. It reminds me of the VHS covers that were widescreen in Silver for the Special Editions.
Here’s a WORK-IN-PROGRESS for my new set. So far, I am just working on the one for STAR WARS (aka A New Hope). Here are two versions of the WORK-IN-PROGRESS. I don’t know which is better:
I don’t know whether to use the traditional logo for all three, or use the classic titles for the individual films.

I like the second one with the classic logo in black.
Same. The spine logo looks a little “thin” to me for some reason I can’t quite place, too.

Update: I made a few changes for my WORK-IN-PROGRESS. I personally prefer this way more:

Yes, I know, which is why I gave some constructive feedback so you can improve it as you work on it. If you didn’t want that kind of feedback, why post a work in progress?

I meant no offense. It’s kind of a bad habit. My apologies. I welcome the feedback. 😃

You’re fine. Sorry if I misinterpreted, it’s been a testy kind of night at work.
You should check out phildesfr’s thread - his download links include a ton of great extra stuff like vectorized logos for each film, some of which look indistinguishable from official logos (they may even be official, I dunno), as well as other assets like studio and ratings logos and various posters and promo art. It’s a great resource he’s compiled that I myself have used on my stuff.
I might add a “color grade” to the covers. Blue for Star Wars, purple for Empire, and red for Jedi (base of the title colors of the THX tapes).
Here’s my WORK-IN-PROGRESS for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. …I wish I could find that same picture of Vader in a much higher resolution:
