Here is an unsolicited tip on pulling these down while saving some angst. I had a problem grabbing these from the free account, even with the Free Rapid download tool. If you don’t mind giving Mega.NZ a minimal amount of your cash, this is what I ended up doing:

  • Created a free account on Mega

  • Upgraded to a Pro account. This is the tip part of this: because I didn’t really like any of the options for payment (I don’t have a virtual credit card, Paypal can no longer be used to purchase Mega subscriptions, etc.), I purchased an Itunes gift card and added it to my Apple account. Then using the Mega iOS app, I purchased a recurring Pro membership (for me it was about $10 US per month). You really only need this for one month.

  • After this, you can import the individual folders (from the text file) into your own Mega account. I couldn’t figure out how to do this until I figured out you DON’T initiate this from your own dashboard - you load each individual folder URL (one for each of the six disks) in a web browser. On THAT page there is an option to import into another Mega account. Click on that to initiate the transfer into your own account.

  • I still had a hard time using the Rapid download manager against my own account - it would still give me unrecoverable errors after about ten or so files and I would have to manually kickstart them to get them going again.

  • Instead, I installed the official Mega Sync tool and synchronized each of the six folders to a folder on my hard drive. I got good through-put this way with no stalling problems.

  • Once you get all of the RAR files, run them through an MD5 checker and then follow the rest of the steps for converting to ISO and burning.

  • Don’t forget to cancel your Mega subscription. I’m sure I will forget.
