WHAT A COOL FAN FILM THIS WAS. THE SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE 9 OUT OF TEN, BUT SOME/MOST OF THE ACTING WASN’T THAT GREAT WHICH MAKES IT FIT IN QUITE WELL WITH THE PT.

I saw this with some of the cast and crew at Carolina Con last week. They used maya and Vegas to do most of it. The effects rival that of many sci-fi channel programs, but the acting was not just ok, or not great, it was crappy. Its frustrating on so many levels. Its like Jar-Jar, a tehcnically impressive achievement, but disappointing as well. The effects will blow your mind though...seriously sick. As far as story, i thought the sins of the jedi one is cooler. And the guy that was directing those is dropping off and Shaun O'Rourke is taking of episode 3 of Sins of the Jedi and it looks awesome, not released yet, buts a huge jump in quality, acting and effects (the last director was somewhat slack). They have a stormtrooper battle scene that looks incredible (he showed us a preview).

16 years I wait and this is what I get???

I didn't see it, but a friend of mine did, and he said it's horrible, the acting is terrible, the S/FX are distracting and awful, and the direction is flawed...

And then I said "ok I know about Phantom Menace, but what about that fan film Revelations?

IT COMES IN RIGHT AT 50 MINUTES LONG. THE MUSIC WAS FANTASTIC. YES, THE ACTING WAS POOR, BUT I FIND IT TO BE FORGIVABLE. LET'S NOT FORGET THAT THIS WASN'T A BIG MAJOR STUDIO MOVIE. THIS WAS A GUY WITH HIS OWN $20K MAKING A FAN FILM. THE SFX WERE PRETTY DECENT. I REALLY LIKED THE SHIPYARD CHASE. THE LIGHTSABERS WERE A LITTLE TO BRIGHT. I ALSO DIDN'T LIKE THE USE OF NON-TRADITIONAL LIGHTSABER COLORS. IT IS WORTH WATCHING THOUGH. G4 HAS SHANE FELUXE (DIRECTOR/PRODUCER/ETC.) ON LAST WEEK WHICH IS HOW I FOUND OUT ABOUT IT. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE. YOU CAN EVEN DOWNLOAD THE SOUNDTRACK.

RIGHT NOW SHANE HAS ONLY MADE A FEW COPIES ON DVD WHICH ARE VERY SOUGHT AFTER. MY VERY GOOD FRIEND JUDY AND I HAVE MADE OWN OWN DVD FOR STAR WARS REVELATIONS. IT'S PRETTY BASIC RIGHT NOW. IT ONLY HAS A MAIN MENU WHICH HAS THE POSTER ART, MUSIC FROM THE MOVIE, AND A 1 MINUTE 50 SECOND CLIP FROM THE INTRO OF THE FILM AS THE PLAY BUTTON. YES, IT IS IN WIDESCREEN LIKE IT WAS ORIGINALLY FILM. I WILL HAVE A NEW DELUXE DVD VERSION PUT TOGETHER NEXT WEEK THAT WILL HAVE SOME SPECIAL FEATURES ON IT. TTHE FEATURES WILL INCLUDE BOTH THE TEASER AND FULL TRAILER, BEHIND THE SCENES FOOTAGE, AND FEW OTHER THINGS ON IT.

He made a two disc (dvd) set available via bittorrent and ftp it has disc and cover art available as well.

I found that the disc art was a bit small. I noticed this before printing them (its designed for the hubless printable disc (large hole) ) and my little brother modified the image some (enlarged it) so that it fits more completely on the disc.

If anyone wants a copy of these versions of the disc art let me know and i can email them to you (along with the the layout settings i used while printing it on my parents Epson R300 printer with the epson disc print software)

I spent a couple days downloading the 2-DVD set and, I have to say, I was thoroughly disappointed. I mean, really. The story was interesting at its core, but the way it was executed was boring as all hell. Props for the SFX and costumes, which I really dug, but it's REALLY not worth the 45mins of your life. At least, not in my opinion.

@DAYV: I at least watch the SWHS because it's kind of part of the universe and, you gotta admit, it's a riot. And some of it is genuinely funny. This is not the case with Revelations. Just my opinion, of course.

or if you just use the bittorrent download it will allow you to stop/resume all you want

*edit, and there is also a quicktime version of it, not sure how big that is though, but its obviously much smaller than the dvd

Its worth seeing once, on a technical level. The story and acting are so bad...it make hercules/xena plots look brilliant. Its awful. Again the SFX are sweet though.

yeah but for those who cannot download torrents there is no dvd release.

I'd also like the dark redemption to be on dvd, possibly with commentary.

Cute, but I think this movie took crap to a whole new place compared to the real movies. That's saying a lot. Don't get me wrong it was such a pretty movie, but it shows what you get when you have unpaid 'actors'.

I think it just goes to show how computer generated effects are becoming less and less "special".

While it's great in the sense that now everyone can create these awesome places and make them look decently good, it sort of takes away that "wow" factor from films of before. 2001 is always a marvel to watch for me. I'm still impressed by those very special effects.

As far as the film "revelations" goes...blah. I give them praise for making such an ambitious project, but they needed better acting and less panorama shots before each scene.
