caught a matinee showing on my day off today. 2D Imax. 4th time. Excellent movie.
I really can’t understand 90% of the criticisms in this thread. there are like 10% of them that i can understand, but the rest?
- I can understand not liking parts of the Canto Bight sequence
- I can understand wanting to know a bit more about snoke (curiosity and all that)
- I can understand being annoyed by Phasma, and bits of Finn as well
not much else though.
C’mon everyone, once more…with feeling.

I generally liked the Canto Bight sequence even though it felt like a pointless tangent. Some here have expressed a similar complaint about the Jabba sequence in ROTJ. Though I don’t share others’ disdain for Ewoks or the Jabba sequence, I accept that they are viewing it the way they say they are. Though I disagree, I can see the rationale for wanting Han dead in ESB, or wanting Wookies instead of Ewoks, or skipping Jabba’s palace. I think making Leia Luke’s sister was a less than inspired choice, but I think it worked. For some people, a slew of factors push them into the camp of not liking ROTJ very much. I think that’s crazy, of course, but I understand their reasons on particular points
I posted a quote a couple pages back from a youtuber that people are more willing to accept elements of a movie they disagree with if they feel an emotional connection to what’s happening. And I think that is a part of what’s missing for many people. Some people will really just hate certain choices or themes no matter what. Like the cave on Dagobah, we will have an experience based on what we take in with us.
