It makes great sense, since there is no year 0. There’s BC 1 and AD 1. The rest is mathematics.

But AD 1 means there’s been 1 year in AD. You don’t just start with 1. Like, people aren’t born at age 1.

But as soon as you are born you are in your year 1.
You wouldn’t start a journal with day 0, would you?

There was no year zero AD. December 31, 1 BC would have been followed by January 1, 1 AD. January 1, 2 AD marks the one year point since flipping over to AD. Counting forward from then, 100 years have passed as of January 1, 101 AD.

Thus, it takes until January 1, 2001 for 2000 years to have passed since the first day of AD, January 1, 1 AD.

My stance on revising fan edits.

It’s all arbitrary anyway. Makes more sense to me that the millennium started on 1/1/2000 so that’s the way I consider it. That’s the way most people consider it anyway.

So, by your definition we still live in the 20th century.

Happy new year 1918, then.

I don’t know why I bothered

Am I allowed to call this a “Safe Space”?

Follow question. Does using quotation marks indicate mockery?

First unread post I was taken to was from yhwx, leading me for a brief moment to believe he was back.
