4K restoration on Star Wars — Page 245

Part of the confusion is the difference between copyright deposits and the National Film Registry. LOC has a '77 copyright deposit, but the NFR (which preserves archival quality prints of select films) declined George’s offer of a '97 print, so they don’t have one.

But Why Disney request the print of the Original copyright print…

I think there doing something…

Also remember a few years ago when the Original teasers where restored and shown a comic con… where there any updates on that where they the original original trailers or the theatrical rerelease trailers.

We can only hope.

I think what Mike Verta said on twitter, “Help, most likely. The division between Star Wars and the others has made our efforts difficult; nobody wants to split things up.” Is very good news that Mike may get some comfirmation of what Disney wanna do next either release on Blu Ray or Theatrically and maybe he has kept so quiet cause they have told him to cause they may wanna release it so if he says anything it will go tits up very quickly so he probs had to sign a contract and he can only either say nothing or small things

Disney may well be working on a restoration.

I just think that the LOC thing is BS. They have no need of a beat up old release print. It sounds like a fan trying to spin a story after having read about the LOC print. Makes it sound like they know about a specific detail, and leads to people believing and repeating it. But it doesn’t really make sense, IMO.

It wasn’t a fan that said that. It was an old Lowry restorationist that briefly worked for George Lucas a while back. He said that an LOC person told him about the scan being made at Disney’s request. It might have something to do with consolidation of their library or something. I have no idea. It wasn’t a fan rumor though.

A Man working at Lucasfilm or something to do with them said that they did take print scan from LOC

And why need that if they doing something and cleary doing something

Disney are digital packrats when it comes to their archives; don’t get too excited.

Interesting that this Tweet uses a pre-2004 version of the binary sunset. Judging from the lighting of the closeup of the two suns this looks like it’s from the ‘97 SE.

That’s just a fanpage.

If people are anything like me. And of course they are. They probably just Googled for and used the first good looking image they found.

And???

It means the Tweet doesn’t matter and has no value in a discussion about Disney and any possible release of Star Wars they may put out

I posted it because I thought it was neat that it was a pre-04 version of the scene. Since this thread is mostly where people come to complain about wanting the OUT even though that wasn’t the threads original purpose I figured this was as good a place as any to share that soooo…yeah. 😛

I want to know when those 4K remasters of Star Wars done by Reliance Media Works will see the light of day. They were finished in 2014 and Disney is pushing out 4K titles in 2018 one of which being The Last Jedi so hopefully more 4K Star Wars releases will follow.

In a way The Last Jedi is Disney’s veiled message, that we will probably never see the OOT released on (4K) bluray or any other form. TLJ’s message is clear. Out with the old, and in with the new. As a fan you either adapt or die. The OOT is the posterboy for the first generation of Star Wars fans. It represents the old, perhaps even the ancient, and not the new. Disney will put all their marketing power in selling this next generation Star Wars. The OOT has no place in this.

I think people are already getting tired of Star Wars. They seem to be miscalculating the market.

Sheesh. TLJ has the second largest opening weekend in history… loosing to TFA.
