Has there been any news on ex-TN1 members’ progress on Silver Screen Edition 2.0, i.e. the Technicolor version of the original Star Wars?

Could anyone who has the 1080p version upload frames showing the Emperor hologram? Either where Vader is talking to him or where his face is shown.

Would be highly appreciated - thanks.

I’ve saved a few frames for you, but it seems I need to host them on a website; it doesn’t look like I can attach a file from my PC when posting to this forum.

What’s a good file/image sharing site people use here for this sort of thing? Preferably something safe with quick/no registration, and which doesn’t resize images automatically.

Here you go. There are 4 images at the following link:
Emperor stills

Two of the emperor front-on; two more of Vader & the emperor side-on. I’ve picked frames with minimal print damage and with different amounts of glow.

Unfortunately, imgur seems to automatically change the file format from png (captured in VLC) to jpg, so the quality will be a little lower. On the plus side, the dimensions are still 1920x1080 (including black bars) and the files are now a lot smaller. Drop me a PM if you need any more.

Salut! 😃

The “Renegade Grindhouse” version of ESB (sometimes called “Grindhouse version 1”) refers to Team Negative 1’s original 35mm version, released in January 2015. TN1 intended to clean it up in order to release a “Sanitized” edition, a bit like their Silver Screen edition of Star Wars. Sadly they disbanded before finishing the project, and as far as I know it is no longer being worked on.

Dreamaster has indeed released his own colour-corrected versions of the Renegade Grindhouse, and they are known as “Single Pass Regrade” and “Dreamastered” as you have discovered. If you get the latter, make sure you get “Dreamastered version 2” which has corrected a few niggles here and there.

You may come across “Grindhouse version 2” of ESB. This was also released in January 2015 by TN1, but is based on a different print; it also goes by the name of “DCP (Digital Cinema Package) 2013”. I prefer the Renegade Grindhouse to the DCP 2013, and it is also much easier to obtain.

Thank you for your rapidity !!!

I only found “Renegade Grindhouse”, not DCP. I trust you, I will content myself with this version.

This is a pity for the Sanitized version.

I would take the v2 of Dreamaster too

Forgive my English, I use a translator.

P.S. For the original 1080p “Renegade Grindhouse” by TN1, make sure you have the ISO release rather than the mkv release.

Initially, TN1 released an mkv file: ESB_Grindhouse_1080p_BD25.mkv
This sadly had some corruption towards the final shots of the film.

A few days later, TN1 released a fixed ISO file: ESB_Grindhouse_1080p_BD_Compat.iso
That one has no corruption issues, and can also be burned directly to a Bluray disc for viewing on a standalone player.

I just uploaded on M/S a torrent containing a batch of audio files copied from Harmy’s DE 2.0 of Empire MKV that have been edited-down to synch with Renegade Grindhouse ESB: Blu Ray Compatible ISO—meaning, for each audio stream from Empire DE, I have trimmed the length of the audio to match the length of the Renegade Grindhouse Empire video of the release print scan and the edited audio is in synchronization with that video. You will not hear any audio anomalies of the edits-clicks, pops, etc.

All you have to do is mux the audio files with the video…provided that you extract video from the ISO disc image and join the six m2ts files to one long video file.

I decided to work with the ISO Compatible version instead of the previous MKV version of the same presentation because that MKV had a glitch in the final scene of the film where it was corrected in the ISO. Also, many folks had problems playing the MKV’s 4:2:2 colorspace format.

To make sure that the length of the GOUT audio files matches that length of ESB release

So, I did the trim of these shots in the GOUT audio.

For now, I’ve upload 8 audio files.

TRACK 1) 5.1 DTS-HD-MA [English] (1980 mix) (Yes, true 5.1 channel audio, not down mixed stereo)
TRACK 2) 2.0 DTS-HD-MA [English] (1980 mix)
TRACK 3) 1.0 DTS-HD-MA [English] (1980 16mm mono mix)
TRACK 4) 2.0 Dolby Digital [English] (1993 Laserdisc mix)
TRACK 5) 2.0 Dolby Digital [German] (1980 dub)
TRACK 6) 2.0 Dolby Digital [French] (1980 dub)
And for one of our members, Leoj… 😃
TRACK 7) 2.0 Dolby Digital [Spanish] (1980 Castilian dub)
TRACK 8) 1.0 Dolby Digital [Spanish] (1980 American Spanish dub)

Enjoy!

Where can i find this track?:
TRACK 7) 2.0 Dolby Digital [Spanish](1980 Castilian dub)

Iits for complete mi Spanish reconstruction collection . I’m from Spain, sorry muy English, thanks.

It is possible to upload it somewhere else for those who have not a ms account?

Is there a place, aside from torrent sites, where I can find the ESB Renegade Grindhouse ISO?

Search for “ESB Grindhouse” on a Usenet search engine e.g. hxxp://binsearch.info.
The corrected 1080p release (Blu-ray compatible ISO with no video glitches at the end) was uploaded to Usenet by Mallwalker. If you’ve never tried Usenet before, I can recommend the following:

  • altbinz - free, portable (if you get the zip version) newsreader software
  • hxxp://free-usenet.com - free Usenet account, albeit quite slow (1 Mbps)

(I’ve written “hxxp” rather than “http” to avoid live links in this post, in case this would break forum rules.)

Hello, i’ve downloaded an iso containing The Empire Strikes Back 35mm print, it’s called ESB_Grindhouse_1080p_BD_Compat. I’m trying to sync the audio tracks from Harmy’s depecialized edition and subtitles from ProjectThreepio-v100 but the m2ts video contained in the iso doesn’t seem to be GOUT synced. Has anyone found a solution to this?

That is because the source of “ESB_Grindhouse_1080p_BD_Compat” is from a release print that has 3 and a quarter seconds worth of footage missing from the GOUT version.

Your best bet is to find Dreamaster’s color corrected version of ESB-Grindhouse…

http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Denoise-Regrain-And-CC-of-ESB-Grindhouse/id/55093

…where he has sync’d the release print to the GOUT, so that you can load your audio options of choice from the Despecialized Edition to ESB-Grindhouse.

One member, here, made this discovery.

Hello everyone. First, excuse my English. I’m spanish (from Spain) and I don’t usually write in english Internet forums.

I’m collected all 35mm. prints of the original trilogy with the highest image quality, but I have a question about the audio (especially with ‘The Empire Strikes Back’). I have these versions with these audios:

Star Wars TN1 Silver Screen Edition v1.6 - Codec audio: DTS-MA HD English Stereo Track from Harmy’s DeSpecialized Edition (Hairy Hen?)

Empire Strikes Back TN1 Grindhouse (Dreamastered v2) - Codec audio: TRACK 2) 2.0 DTS-HD-MA [English] (1980 mix)

The english stereo audio of the two films is extracted from ‘Harmy’s Despecialized Editions’. I guess this happens because the “optical 35mm audio” is not synchronized with the ‘GOUT versions’. I wonder if exits a version of the print’s original audio synchronized with the ‘GOUT’. I suppose not, but the ‘ESB TN1 Grindhouse (Dreamastered v2)’ was obtained by a french tracker and I don’t know if the english audio is the same of “MySpleen versions”.

If synchronized audio doesn’t exist, it’s not a problem. The audio quality of the Harmy’s versions is excellent. Simply I would like to keep the print’s original audio if possible but with the condition of not changing the versions (or synchronize the audio manually). If the original audio is not sync and it’s impossible to insert in the ‘SS SSE v1.6’ and ‘ESB Dreamastered v2’, my question ends here.

Thanks.

Hi maxpower91

I did those 2 releases that you get on the french tracker.
Both are GOUT sync, because published like that.
Silver Screen english audio come from the ‘original’ Star_Wars_Silver_Screen_Edition_v1.6 ISO from TN1.
On ESB Dreamasered v2, english audio tracks come from ESB Harmy Despecialized v2.7 BD50 ISO
Both sources come from download on Myspleen.
My job was just to repack them with French audio coming fron LaserDisc, on the same quality as the BD.

So, I don’t really understand what are you looking for english audio ?

Author

@Paraginartop
From my reading of maxpower91’s request, he is looking for the version of the release print of ESB with one audio option–the 2-channel optical soundtrack. This version would be called, “Renegade Grindhouse ESB.” Unfortunately, since the source is a theatrical print, there are about 3 seconds of footage missing. Since the audio is stored on the print, sound from that missing footage would not be heard.

If you can’t get access to myspleen, search the torrents or usenet and make note of the following information:

  • That the version, you are looking for, is released before 2017, as that was when Dreamaster made his GOUT-sync’d version of the same release print.

  • Avoid an AVCHD version with multiple audio streams that are out of sync.
You can read about that here:

http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Team-Negative1-The-Empire-Strikes-Back-1980-35mm-Theatrical-Version-Release-Details-and-Updates/id/16108/page/59
…beginning with the post from July 18, 2016, from BobaJett.

These are just a start. I am sure other members can give you more information.
