The Stand by Stephen King. Wow, this is long.
Which version are you reading?
I’m now reading Cline’s Ready Player One.
Good luck with that. I couldn’t get past his pages-long soul-crushing tirade about how the idea of God is stupid, that he’s smart for realizing it, and then goes back to lamenting how pointless life is and at least he has Family Ties reruns to keep him busy.
I don’t know Cline’s own personal religious views (I think he’s an atheist), but I found the scene in the book more than ramblings of an angry adolescent who’s sort of mad at the world than any particular statement about religion. In any case, it’s just a book.

The unabridged version. I finally finished it. What an unbelievably disappointing ending. I’m now reading Cline’s Ready Player One.

I enjoyed that. Just don’t take it too seriously, it’s just a fun guilty pleasure, nerd out, type of thing.
It’s fun up to a point.
I can see by your eyes you must be lying
When you think I don’t have a clue
Baby you’re crazy
If you think that you can fool me
Because I’ve seen that movie too
