Yeah, but the audience only sees Luke force choking the guards, pulling the gun and mind tricking Bib Fortuna. Out of these, only the mind trick was really impressive (I guess not anymore since even Rey, a completely untrained Jedi as she is, pulled it off so easily). So, from my experience as a viewer, it was always building up to Luke just eventually going full Jedi, which is the sail barge scene. After all, it was the first time we saw a Jedi kicking everyone’s ass, and I feel like the subtle uses of the force that came before built up to that. Just my opinion though.
