There's a R2 Superbit.

Still wouldn't matter, the aspect ratio on all of them is not Gilliam's preferred, according to the laserdisc sleeve. The laserdisc is 1.75:1. The American and Superbit releases are 1.85:1. There's an Australian release that 's 1.78:1 that might be passable, but then a PAL-to-NTSC conversion would also have to be dealt with.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

No. I had to go to work and since no one is helping me seed (like they promised ), it'll have to wait.

Sorry, certainly don't mean to push you or anything. I'm just never quite sure with the spleen anymore. They seem to remove some torrents for whatever reason and leave others. Thanks a lot for the seed. And we'll be ready and waiting whenever you are.

I haven't gotten the whole movie yet - but I'll keep to my promise when I do and seed.

omg, are these going to be dual layer?

and is there a dual layer version of the princess bride?

Nope. I don't see much sense in doing this with a laserdisc source. It's non-anamorphic to begin with, and even if you allow for the fact that computer-based upsizers are probably better than on-the-fly upsizers you may have on your dvd player, I personally still don't have a widescreen and/or HD tv to test my discs on before I would send them out. I would be out of my comfort level, and would probably unleash a turd of a disc on the community. Besides, content is more important for quality as both movies are available on DVD officially.

Not of my set. The official ones are dual-layered.

No. I had to go to work and since no one is helping me seed (like they promised ), it'll have to wait.

I am now online as a seed.

Enjoy!

The torrent file is about to "break through" as there are ~20 people sitting between 95.5 and 99.9%.

If you're one of those who are about to have it complete, please stay online so others can access the files quickly.

Thanks to DFNYC for the upload!

Thanks for this! I did notice a tiny typo on the back of the jacket cover: "... Good Men. Beautiful Ldies." I can't wait to watch this.

Beautiful work on the Bride, bdev. Can't wait for the Baron.

A couple of nitpicks:

It may be possible to edit the sidebreaks together without overlapping the commentaries, but perhaps not with the program you were using.

On the "Fezzik, Vizzini, and Buttercup" clip, the on-set audio drops out at the end and can only be heard on Track 2 after the commentary finishes

On the last Credits page, the word "materials" is misspelled

Why reduce the size of the images in the galleries? On the LD the pics of the tapestry were full screen.

-Like I say, nitpicks. Keep it up!

I'd have to look at the discs again to understand exactly what you mean for the first few problems, but as for the resizing of the images, I was mainly concerned with overscan. One of the annoying parts of a lot of these criterion laserdiscs is that so much of the screen is cut off on my television. It doesn't matter so much for the pictues since you get the idea even with the edges cropped, but it renders the text unreadable on some parts. My tv doesn't overscan that badly, so I thought others would have the same problem.

Is this still available or has there been a higher quality preservation of the Criterion version in the last few years?

I have the film itself on BD so I;m not so much interested in that, but I do want the extras from the Criterion LD (in the best quality available.)

I would love a higher quality version of this but I thought the original version was very, very good. The menus were awesome. :)

So not like I’m resurrecting a decade plus old post… but does anyone have access to the files?

I stupidly never realized that this was a criterion release until now, and when I saw who was on the commentary holy crap do I desperately want it.
