What do you HATE about the EU? — Page 45

That they decided to have a single universe that everything has to conform to rather than allowing stories to occur in separate universes. Why should Thrawn and Dark Empire occur in the same universe? Why should Tales of the Jedi and KOTOR occur in the same universe?

People waste their money on the new EU books. Not worth the paper they’re printed on. Same goes for the comics, video games, action figures, the dumbass Funko Pop shit, etc.
Just get the discs cause Streaming can go…
IDGAF about a lot of the backstory either.

I can get behind this. I haven’t read any for a few years, but I was enjoying the Star Trek novels that often contradicted each other, but tended to agree with existing official movie/TV show canon existent at the time. It made it easy to establish one’s own personal canon while discarding what one didn’t like.

I enjoyed the books dealing with teenage Jimmy Kirk, Captain Robert April, and First Officer George Kirk.

^I can second that opinion. It’s all fiction anyway, so who cares? Just read the novels and spinoff series that might interest you. No one cares about “canon” except for the OCD nerds who edit Wookieepedia.

Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? none holds them up except Allah. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe. – Quran (16:79)

Exactly. It’s the same mentality that puts the phrase “imaginary story” on the cover of a Silver Age AU comic book with no hint of irony.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

Something like the Valley of the Jedi, perhaps? I’ve long been of the view that that particular plot point was inspired by an idea Lucas had for Episodes VII-IX in the days before ROTJ.

No…but the basic idea of a force enhancing crystal was there

The whataboutism of the EU’s defenders. Sometimes I would criticize the EU and someone would respond with, “The prequels did that too.”

In the video game “Jedi Power Battles”, Plo Koon uses Force Lightning in spite of being a lightsider. I don’t mind that because Jedi Power Battles was an out-of-continuity video game. What I hate is that the EU proceded to canonize it as “electric judgement”.

I hate that the guy who does most of the audiobooks sounds more like Patrick Warburton than Harrison Ford when he does Han.

The issue is that it contradicts Yoda being the one who did that.

The bigger picture’s worse:

In 700 BBY, a cult of Bpfasshi Dark Jedi tried to establish themselves throughout the Bpfassh system. A Jedi task force engaged and killed them, with the Jedi Knight Minch killing their leader on Dagobah.

During the Clone Wars, another group of Bpfasshi Dark Jedi were responsible for a rampage of terror and destruction throughout the Sluis sector. A Jedi task force led by Yoda was sent to stop them and quell the insurrection in the Bpfassh system. Yoda pursued and killed one of the Dark Jedi that had kidnapped smuggler Jorj Car’das.

The redundancy is baffling and stupid.

It’s not a contradiction. Minch is totally meant to be Yoda. They just said he wasn’t because they regretted showing a young Yoda, because it takes away from the mystery.
