The fact that they were even talking about doing this says to me that the two parties will eventually hammer out some kind of deal over ANH.

WHEN?!

That’s an interesting and optimistic theory. 😉

As an OOT fan who’d borderline sell my soul to the devil for a proper release, I’ve just been burned so many times that I’ve given up getting any of my hopes up any more.

Okay, somebody photoshop the OT into Tim Curry’s hands. 😉

How do you post a picture now?

Replace the {} with [], put the image link in place of the x.

JEDIT: The characters are { } and [ ] but it’s hard to tell without spaces.

You can quote a post with a picture to see how it’s done.

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

Whoo hoo! It’s not over until the fat lady in Jabba’s palace sings.

Maybe they can retroactively put the Fox logo and fanfare on TFA and TLJ?

These ongoing negotiations may explain why there was no re-release of the movie for its 40th anniversary.

So any news? Last I heard, the FCC was saying no to this even happening.

The last word was that Sony was trying to buy Fox, not Disney…

Maybe it’s negotiation tactics: Fox got Sony interested to force Disney to accept their terms ?

Figures this is what would happen and dash our last chance at the OOT against the rocks 😦.

I highly doubt the two are related.

I don’t think they are for a minute. I imagine Sony just put up a better bid.

There was talk several years ago of sony pictures going out of business entirely. The recent deal with Marvel over Spider-Man was done at least partially out of desperation, after the two ASM movies underperformed.

But maybe that means they’d be willing to share Fox’s Marvel properties with the MCU as well? Maybe we’d see a similar situation to Homecoming where Sony makes a new F4 movie set within the greater continuity and lets them show up in Disney’s movies as well.

As for ANH, I honestly think whoever owns that movie in 2020 will simply come to an agreement with LFL/Disney about a new release.

But I don’t to wait until 2020!
