Probably out of date information. I know for sure the last time I actually used Amazon video the highest it went was 720 but that was years ago. It’s definitely not my internet.

No offence

None tacen.

Look at things like the Ghostbusters remake or the Ben-Hur remake

I will continue to defend it. I enjoyed it, I laughed, so that made it worthwhile in my book.

Like the Junglebook remake, though, how many people really substantively remember it, other than the obvious fact that it came out recently. Even if you liked it, does your mind honestly go to that film when you hear the title Ghostbusters? Although to be fair they seem to have retitled the remake Ghostbusters: Answer the Call to distinguish it from the original on home video, but still.

Well of course I think of the original first, I grew up with it and it’s one of the most classic movies of all time. I’m not claiming the remake was a great movie or anything, just that I enjoyed it, and I’d probably watch it again at some point.

Haven’t seen the new Ghostbusters, but I will admit to enjoying the new Jungle Book quite a bit. Not that I think it needed to exist, mind you, and I have no interest in Beauty and the Beast or Lion King.

Was it because of the digital mustache removal?

i was so annoyed that a co-worker told me about this before i saw the film. i doubt i would have focused on it as much if i knew nothing of it.

Justice League (2017)

Meh.

I thought it rather ok. As in I was entertained.

Superman was very one dimensional though.

I love how Hollywood consistently fails to get this character right. Unless you’re a fan of the Silver/Bronze Age Superman, in which case look no further than the Donner Superman. But if you’re a fan of the Modern Age Superman, specifically the Superman of the late '80s & '90s? No soup for you.

At least he doesn’t murder people in this one, so it’s… an improvement… I guess…

Coco - 8.5/10

With the accusations against John Lasseter (a former inspiration of mine) having just come out, this was a bit of an uncomfortable watch. However, removing the executive producer from the picture, this is an excellent film with a lot of heart and emotion. If it wasn’t for those accusations making for a really uncomfortable viewing, I’d probably give it a 9/10.

Good point

Some people seem to want an extended cut for the Blu-Ray release like BvS got, but I just want them to undo the CGI and let him keep the mustache.

Or let us see the pre-reshoot scenes before he grew the mustache in the first place…

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)

Just got the new GKids Blu-Ray of this (all the new Ghibli GKids Blu-Rays are selling for great prices on Amazon, by the way). Looks and sounds amazing, and it’s wonderful to be able to watch it in Japanese without dubtitles for once!

Definitely one of my favorites of Miyazaki’s. The world is so well-realized, there’s just the right mix of cute (the fox-squirrel!) and creepy (the Ohms). Oddly, watching this again has made me really wish for an animated Dune adaptation…

9 ridiculously bushy mustaches out of 10

Now I’ve got to get one of my other favorites, Castle in the Sky - the new GKids release has a third audio option that’s the English dub with the original electronic music (though sadly in lossy DD instead of DTS-HD), so that’ll be nice to have.

Blade Runner again. Fifth watch in two years. Always gets better. I always watch it with someone who’s never seen it before, which sounds a lot more interesting than it is. I wish they could say more about it than “Yeah, that was good”.

Chris Reeve is definitive for me. What do you find appealing in the more modern character? I’m not familiar with the differences myself.

I don’t think he was saying he likes the new superman…

Just so there’s no confusion, I was saying I like the Superman of the early post-Crisis comics.

He can’t juggle planets, he can’t move faster than the speed of light, and Clark Kent is part of who he is, not some disguise. But above all, he’s fundamentally human – made as good a man as he is by the loving, supporting parents who raised him – not some distant alien loner, with an adoptive dad who tells him it’s alright to let people die if it protects his secret, who’s only good because of his genes.

This is why I prefer the early days of Superman before the power creep started.

Intense body horror with unique, shifting aspect ratios? Count me in.

I don’t know what’s more horrifying, the body horror or the shifting aspect ratio.
