Help Wanted: Project To Collect All Star Wars Documentaries

Author
Time
 (Edited)

I love what I see in these forums with all the contributions that people have been doing by cutting of the films, adding dialogue, adding scenes.

This is what I love about Star Wars and Star Wars fans.

Anyways, I was thinking, we have the Deleted Magic dvds that collected all the deleted scenes of Star Wars, why not have a DVD(s) that has all the Star Wars documentaries?

Since George Lucas refuses to include more than an hour or so documentary in all on his dvds, lets collect all the docs and compile them onto a DVD(s).

What does everyone think?

Go for it!

But it's going to take several DVD's.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side

“Back when we made Star Wars, we just couldn’t make Palpatine as evil as we intended. Now, thanks to the miracles of technology, it is finally possible. Finally, I’ve created the movies that I originally imagined.” -George Lucas on the 2007 Extra Extra Special HD-DVD Edition

Which documentaries do you mean, exactly? There's a plethora of made-for-TV special documentaries and other things of that sort, which would present quite a massive undertaking, especially regarding prequel-era specials (if you're counting those). This sounds like a really cool project either way, though.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I of course think it would be a HUGE undertaking but check out what everyone else is doing, cutting up dvds, adding scenes.

I think this is what everyone wants and needs.

This would be truly the Star Wars Treasure Chest

Well, is what you say your exact goal? Do you really hope to compile every made-for-TV, supplemental and fan-made documentary out there into one giganto set?

Well yeah

Realistically well I never thought the Deleted Magic thing would ever happen but it did.

So if we have partcipation from all the masters then this could be amazing

I guess we should make a list. I'm sure Rikter can come up with quite a few titles.

"There's a plethora of made-for-TV special documentaries"

"Jeffe, what's a plethora?"

(10 points to whoever gets the reference. )

I do think that it'd be nice if we did compile a list of all the documentaries. To my knowledge, there's no definitive list floating around.

Most of those are readily available via torrents or other means. Really, I pretty much listed the most common ones. Three of them are on Garrett Gilchrist's 'Special Edition Hype' DVD, which I supplied the tape for, so that's out there. Probably the only things I have that's on that list that not many others do are Episode I Unauthorized and the E! special, but sure, I'd be happy to share.

Awesome List!

If anyone wants to PM me the links to download them so we can compile everything or post it on the boards, that would be great.

What does everyone want to see from this?

DVD Menu's and such?

This site keeps track of SW references (books, tv, movies, music, etc.) and will most likely have mentions of the tv programs in which you seek.

The first step i would take is to just make a list, prefereable in an excel document form which is easy to update and is expandable and maybe in the future, have a user input option, then make that a webpage. Once a tv program is known to exist, then start tracking down copies.

There's a dedicated SWTV message board at TFN:JC. Also sifting through all the posts to the major SW sites would be helpful. Figure everytime one of the movies came out, there we're 3-7 specials.

As for the alt.SW.floobischmoobie, read this thread: a.b.sw
