And on a grimmer, novemberish note:

Did you notice that each major character got the death they deserved?

Gerrera was too tired after nearly three decades of war, he finally met people who will continue his crusade.
Galen finally had a chance to see his daughter.
K2 defeated a platoon of soldiers single-handedly (literally, as he was operating the computer with his other hand) and then blew up himself to stop the enemy - obeservation: a paragon of battle droid effectiveness he was.
Chirrut being a monk prayed and prepared himself to die.
Bodhi (who is the hobbit of this film) knew that he finally did something important - and his death was quick so he didn’t even had time to be afraid.
Baze died like a warrior (Conan would be proud) : killed his opponents, avenged his brother-in-faith, smirked in the face of death. Did he also found his lost faith in the Force?
Jyn avenged her parents and completed her father’s sabotage. Cassian completed his toughest mission. And then they had (the shortest) vacation on the beach… and finally a moment for themselves - their goal was achieved.

And even Krennic… who would always pull himself up when shot… had the chance to gaze at the grand creation of his life… aiming and shooting him straight in the head. What could be his last thoughts?

This is to all the people who say R1 is just nostalgia-exploitation and “ayteeaytees”.

That’s a cool viewpoint as to how the characters met their respective ends, and their fulfilling journey to that point. Nice one.

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

You mean they deserved to die? I don’t follow you. Characters that actually feel alive and then die in emotional and truly dramatic ways would have been better. To me they were stock archetypes who weren’t developed and then just got killed off to avoid sequel inconsistencies.

did you read the post you are disagreeing with? clearly they didn’t deserve to die. they got the death that suited them is probably a better way to put it.

Rogue One characters didn’t feel alive? Jyn is WAY better than rey from the farce awakens for instance. Jyn has vulnerabilities and flaws that she overcomes for a cause much, much greater than herself while rey is just a boringly perfect robot that can do no wrong, rey is about as flat as a pancake as a one-dimensional character can get.

Yes, your choice of words is better than mine.

The opposite of R1 is TFA. He should have died, say, by ramming his old ship and thus saving everyone, bit like that old pilot in ID4. Another reason why I can’t stomach TFA.

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...

Stumbled upon a neat Rogue One retro CBS/Fox style cover earlier - not in the largest size - but not bad…

love these vhs cover creations , I took my dvd copy of force awakens and played it through my old apex dvd player hooked up to an old portable tv/vcr combo and made a vhs copy of it . Might do the same for Rogue one and display with all my other vhs star wars movies.

There are a few more Rogue One covers - dvd, bluray and some retro vhs - plus some art & posters etc, in here - http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Rogue-One-PosterPromos/id/50710

Why not just put a random VHS in the box? (you don’t actually intend to watch it on tape, do you?)

This is the most hipster thing I’ve ever heard of.

But not bad.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

If it was possible to put the new movies out on Laserdisc I’d probably buy them. 😉

It’d be neat if some new movies got limited LaserDisc releases every now and then, but then I suppose the technological infrastructure doesn’t exist anymore.

One as to love gray-blue colour I guess…

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

I had read the last LD production plant in the U.S. was shuttered after a run of Dragon’s Lair discs for arcade game collectors in 2002. Recordable LD tech does exist, but isn’t compatible with the consumer format AFAIK. A dedicated Regular Show fan wanted to make a disc as a gift to the show’s creators, (who did a hilarious episode revolving around a rare film on an LD and efforts to find a player to watch it) but obviously hit a dead end.

It might actually be easier for Pioneer to reverse engineer a new player than to bring back the disc manufacturing technology itself.

The resurgence in Vinyl is stressing one of the few (if not the only) pressing plants left in the U.S., and most of their machinery is pushing 50 years old!

Isn’t LD basically the same technology as CD ? Maybe a CD manufacturing plant could be converted to press LD ? Producing the master may be complicated, the video track being analog…

CD’s were built upon Laserdisc specs as is every optical disc format we’ve had since. Probably a cash cow to those who own the original Discovision design patents. There was CD Video, with one music video, (which takes up a lot of the disc space being uncompressed analog) and a few songs. A CD player just ignores the video segment.
This is the only CD Video I own, issued as part of a Bowie boxset. Image briefly fooled around with calling 12 inch LD’s CD Video which probably only confused consumers new to the format.

That’s a motivational poster Krennic would have hung in his office if he wasn’t dead. 😉

Whoever did that did a good job of merging the screencaps. A fantastic scene in the film. Shot plus audio is one of my favorites.
