MARVEL: “So we’re making another movie.”

ME: “Okay.”

MARVEL: “It’s kinda like Guardians because it’s a cosmic adventure.”

ME: “Go on.”

MARVEL: “It’ll have lots of synthesizer music.”

ME: “Yes.”

MARVEL: “And sets and costumes that look like they were ripped straight out of the pages of Jack Kirby’s work.”

ME: “O MY GOD, STOP PITCHING, YOU’VE MADE THE SALE!”

I run from the room, grinning from ear to ear. Marvel sighs.

MARVEL: “I probably should have told him that the characters and narrative are rather dull.”
