The safe-route Disney is traveling with these safe, established characters deeply worry and disappoint me. This franchise has become Marvel and Hollywood in a nutshell, and everyone swallows it whole. Despite Lucas’s way too firm and naive grasp on the prequels and its scripts, he had originality, and he took hell of a lot of chances with them. Not to mention the OT.

This Marvel Formula to Star Wars is predictable, redundant and unoriginal. The Marvel formula - to m, and the eight or so Marvel movies I’ve seen - is simply a joke every three minutes, no plot twist that will greatly endanger people’s expected expectations for the movie or their perception of it, characters that are half-developed or completely one-dimensional and/or predictable with the sole purpose to give- or complete a plot point, and - if expected by audience - kill a minor or now rather unimportant character at the end of the movie to give the audience the feel of consequence and stake, rather than set it up during the movie’s runtime.

And then people will say: but Rogue One killed all of its main characters! And TFA killed Han Solo! Well, Rogue One’s characters had little to no depth, the main character herself was never much of a main character - always being told what to do rather than to take action herself (watch the Rogue One Analysis video on YouTube) and a dragged out storyline that only picks up the last 20 minutes or so. The only character I cared about, and especially felt for upon his death, was the K2 droid.

And Han Solo’s sole purpose was to be the father of Kylo Ren and thereafter die to leave the characters with some emotional weight. However, this did of course work brilliantly - due to the already established character of Han Solo and Leia.

I hate to be the negative voice to anticipated movies, but I’m entitled to my honest opinion. I think the movies - so far, have been safe, at times boring, depthless, and incredibly predictable. I hope this changes around upon the release of TLJ and this Han Solo movie. I really hope this trend will stop. Don’t do what’s done before right - do what’s done before different!

Ragnorok is more compelling than anything George Lucas worked on since 1989…so if you don’t like it than it is probably good
