During the Rancor sequence in a full frontal shot of it while Luke is trying to find a way out (or any other full frontal shot of it) there’s supposedly a puppeteer’s blue clothed arm visibly operating the Rancor on its left side (right side of the screen for the viewer). While the Rancor’s surroundings are dark, I either need my eyes checked or it just isn’t there .

If anyone else here could try and locate this error and point out where this is visible, would be greatly appreciated.

Any Hooo…
This is as much for AR:SE as for ROTJ:R, what with Rogue One having very polished reflective floors in key rooms is it possible or desirable to do something similar for Death Star interiors in other films?
The floors are quite reflective in both films but not to the same mirror effect of Rogue One and I quite liked the effect. It makes the rooms look other worldly and obsessively sterile and buffed. So many OT Death Star sets have dents and scratches and scuff marks. Jedi has some very tatty cobbled together sets which are kind of forgivable for the Rebels but not so much for the Empire.

Wouldn’t we need actual reflections of EVERYTHING to make the floor reflective?

Not necessarily accurate reflections. There is a loss of resolution with any reflective surface. What it would take would be someone to make a sample of what is already reflected, Create an abstract reconstruction of the reflection with a bit more detail and blend that with a black background and then rotoscope around the existing surface. It wouldn’t be a perfect mirror but it would be closer to the Rogue One look. Though it would also be a lot of hard work 😄

Eh, I can’t speak for ANH, but at least in ROTJ it can be assumed that it’s still a place under construction and they haven’t gotten around to polishing the floors yet. 😉

When Vader’s shuttle is landing in the second DS there is a scaffolding struture on the left side of it, but then in the next close up shot of the shuttle it’s no longer there.

When R2 plays Luke’s holographic message to Jabba, Luke’s lightsaber is shown clipped to the right side of his body. Then before the message ends a brief shot of Luke’s hologram is visible showing his lightsaber clipped to the left side of his body indicating that in all previous shots of Luke before the one with the message ending, Luke’s holographic image was flipped.

NOTE: In the film Luke keeps his lightsaber clipped to the left side of his body (this is also true in TESB).

During R2’s holographic message of Luke to Jabba in the shot showing Jabba and Bib Fortuna then panning down to Salacious Crumb, the smoke coming from Jabba’s pipe is going inward and the bubbles in the bong are flowing downward indicating that this shot was played in reverse.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JFPHNLjCvI&t=1m0s

In the scene when “Leia” pulls out the thermal detonator in front of Jabba, the shots showing Boba Fett during this are flipped due to his helmets antenna being on the left side.

On Jabba’s sail barge when Luke is shot on his mechanical hand by a blaster the injury from the shot is already visible on his hand before he’s even shot and when he is shot he’s actually shot on the sleeve.

Weird. The base of it is still there, but it fades away at the point where the wall becomes vertical. A different matte painting perhaps?

They told me they’d fixed it!

I love this deleted scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT-ZsR2P8dU

In contrast to ANH and TESB the deleted scenes from ROTJ has many potential to be reediting into the movie. I agree with you. Especially:

  • Luke building this light saber
  • Bunker rush (nice action, see the link)
  • Emperor is commanding to destory the moon (more dramatic, more evil)

The difficult is to restore these blu ray material that it is matching to the rest of the movies (color, sound, scratches, effects). I think this is a lot of work. But when Adywan can handle this, this would be an amazin change.

I hope Adywan will try 😃

I have three other “wishes” for ROTJ:HD

  • in Jabbas palace Lando is showing his face (too long) in the camera Thats absolutely useless and senseless.
  • At the end, when Luke looks to the Jedi ghosts, in the original version he did a small wink with his eyes. Thats very individual, I like this … but its missing in the SE.
  • I like Sebastian Shaw as Anakin, but it would be great if he wear the clothes from the PT Anakin

Good call Tantive3+1
Those flipped shots of Luke really bugged me at the time as his hair parting was on the wrong side which stood out to me more.
Makes you wonder how a “small” detail like a massive hologram of one of the main characters got through in the first place

It’s a magical Jedi crunchy frog! He Force teleports out of Jabba’s stomach each time he’s eaten. 😛

I assume that some slave, possibly a Jawa on stilts, has the job of keeping Jabba’s crunchy-frog bowl topped up at all times from a supply cupboard/pond out the back.

Actually because of the way that scene is edited, as a kid I thought that Oola had somehow been shrunk by some machine beneath the trap door and transported to that bowl, and Jabba was then eating her. But that’s a discussion for the “childhood misconceptions” thread.

I remember thinking exactly the same thing as a kid when seeing RotJ in the cinema for the first time! It was only after getting the VHS several years later that the scene made sense to me, and I realised it was some kind of frog being eaten.

As for those flipped shots of Luke and Boba Fett, I can’t believe I never spotted either of those before… Luke’s parting and Boba’s antenna look so blatantly wrong now it’s been pointed out. In my defence, I’ve only seen the film about 25 times 😉.

I don’t have a picture of this right now, but after Vader throws the emperor down the shaft, it’s pretty obvious his hand is underneath his too-long sleeve. You can even see his wrist is bent. It’s a small thing, but one that bugs me every time I watch the movie.

Consider taking the battle scar off the full size AT-ST before the ground battle begins.

I guess I’ll have to be the one to step up and suggest the one thing everyone here really wants to see but is too embarrassed to openly ask for.

Please swap Jake Loyde for Hayden Christensen as the Anakin force ghost?

You’re welcome.

I’m not savvy on seeing Luke build his lightsaber. It takes away from the dramatic moment we all felt in 1983 when R2 launched it to him on the skiff. THAT was a terrific reveal. We do not need to see it to serve the storyline that Luke built a new one.

Also having Palpatine order Jerjerrod to destroy the Endor moon takes away from the Emperor’s own Achille’s heel that Luke himself states; his overconfidence in his own ‘legion of my best troops’. There would be no need for a failsafe should the rebels disable the shield generator, which Emp himself gave the Rebellion the coordinates of.

Cutting back and forth between Jerjerrod’s dilemma of wiping out the moon diminishes Luke’s tension with Vader. Truly Emp’s overconfidence WAS his weakness, and I think expanding the ground battle to showcase the overwhelming odds the rebels faced is good enough tension without sacrificing the main point of the storyline to yet another plot point that only serves to add another level of tension where it is not needed.

I find your lack of faith…disturbing
