To my knowledge, all we have to go off of is the Hollywood Reporter article from earlier this year.

I want the new Han Solo and Chewbacca to cameo when Ben walks into the cantina.
I don’t want Vader…too much is a bad thing. I want characters we either haven’t seen before, or animated ones into live action. I do want to see a better looking Bossk, prefer him or Dengar over Boba Fett again.
Darth Maul would be cool, not sure it would happen though.

Darth Maul died at the end of The Phantom Menace. The new Han Solo and Chewbacca being in the cantina on Tatooine when Ben walks in would be so embarrassingly corny and Vader doesn’t have to meet up with Obi-Wan in the Kenobi movie just a cameo would be fine. 😄

Supposedly he was brought back in the Clone Wars or something. Which is really stupid but there you go.
Bringing him back was dumb, but most of what they did with him after bringing him back made it worth it.
He doesn’t need to appear in a live action movie, though. His story was finished in TCW and Rebels.

In all fairness the comics resurrected Maul first. Lucas realized too late he had a cool villain on his hands. He should have hedged his bets and simply had Maul fall down the shaft wounded but mostly intact.

The cyborg tarantula was how his brother found him (the spider legs being legs he made for himself from the junkyard he was living in). He got normal robot legs later in the same episode and that’s what he had through the rest of TCW and Rebels.
