Gotcha. Wasn’t trying to berate you for not having watched foreign films before, mind you, I was just surprised that anyone would pick Solaris as their first foray into foreign films, as it’s not exactly an accessible film even by foreign/arthouse standards!

Oh, and I can’t recommend City of God enough. One of my all-time favorites. It’s about gangs/crime/drugs in the slums of Brazil, all involving kids. It’s intense and hard-hitting, but also surprisingly very funny. Such a good movie.
