Hardcore Legend that first pic of Vader has way too much red in his corona.

Ok, I figured it was a bit too much, but I used Sidious, Maul and Dooku as a model.

quite frankly, i think the top pic from ESB is perfect. That's how lightsabers should look. flickering & humming with powerful energy. I think the newer sabers (such as the prequels) look too perfect & cookie cutter. they dont look as real. I would like to see all sabers look like they do in the closeups from OOT ESB (where the blades look fairly skinny). There shouldn't be a perfcetly defined white core surrounded by a perfectly defined colored corona. It doesn't look natural. Oh, & the tip should not come to such a defined point as it did in ROTS. Remember, this is flowing energy.

Agreed with canofhumdingers. The PT lightsabers are bright but lifeless - almost inert. There's no movement. They seem more like a stick than a lightsaber (or blade, for that matter.)

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Um. That's not a fix. You broke the lightsabers, did you do that with MSPaint or something? Maybe I'm being harsh - i'll look again.

No. Those are really bad. Never do that again. Or if you do, don't put it in any alternate versions of the movie. It'd be a shame for someone to be downloading a supposed 'fix' and instead get that.

Thank you for your comments. I look forward to seeing your attempts as part of this poster participation.

We complain about how bad LFL did I figured I'd try it myself, as a learning process. The latest one I did was the 'droid' one. The core used is from PT screencaps and the glow is from was to best represent that from the OT.

I like your rendering of the Millennium Falcon shot a lot, but the other two seem kind of wonky to me. As previously stated, Vader's saber seems too red. And Ben's in the second shot just seems way too chunky and opaque in the glowing area.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

What do you mean? Like footage before the "lighsaber effect" has been added?

I believe you'll find some snippets on the Empire of Dreams documentary, and defintely on ocpmovie's Deleted Magic DVD.

Meh. My comptuer can't screen cap inteligently.... It captures it as a layered image or some such nonsense and then deletes the still shot of the video when I save it.

Ok, I figured it'd be unfair of me to poke fun without at least offering up my own alternative.

http://www.angelfire.com/creep/clan_mccoolness/rash.html

There you'll find an empty frame, a frame of the lightsaber from the 2004 DVD, and at the bottom, my own one. I tried to mimick the very nice glow of the old ones, but gave it some colour instead of making it white.

And Hardcor Legend, I mean no insult but your lightsabers lack glow. They don't look like an actual lightsource. If you take a photo of some actual lightsources you'll see what I mean.

because photons of light only travel up to 1 meter and they are actually concentrated enough so that the photons have a physical form that we can look at without blinding ourselves.and that can deflect solid objects.

Ok, Here's my first crack at it.

Thanks to Zebonka for the Bladeless image.

Heh I figured we'd need a blank frame for this thread. I could do more for diff. scenes if no one else wants to...

Very nice Zebonka! I really loved your fix, the saber looks very naturel. But I do believe that it should be shortened, like in Hardcore Legend's fix.
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

Do you mean it looks like crap? Or it's the "Good Sh*t"??? Your statement and smileys seem to contradict eachother.

Sure, why not. Different scenes mean more colors and angles to work with.
