Thanks for posting your results, one69chev. I have Windows 10 Pro 64bit and the 50 GB versions of NJVC’s ISOs. None of them play for me in VLC 😦

Possessed - thanks for the advice on PowerDVD Plus.

VLC does NOT play Blu-rays, doesn’t matter what some people say

Wrong. But I will agree it’s not the best option.

I’m pretty sure it’s not possible. I tried all free players, and none of them could do it.

Yeah, but they can though. As someone else just pointed out vlc can with a quick download of a couple extra files, and also leawo can. They aren’t as good as powerdvd with menus and all that but that doesn’t mean they don’t work.

It is true that VLC cannot play commercially available Blu rays, I verified that today with The Hobbit, but in a pinch, it can be used to play the individual files in an iso if there are no other options. Personally, I typically use Powerdvd whenever I want to play a Blu ray, but use VLC for pretty much everything else. However, unfortunately for Bluto, it looks like VLC won’t work for him.

It can if you download the libraries. But that can be a headache.

Leawo can indeed really handle blu-rays, with menus, and it really is free! And it really is simple; you don’t have to do anything fancy. I just have a Windows 10 laptop with a 64-bit processor and an external pioneer blu-ray drive, nothing special. All I did was download it from here and installed it like any other program. If you use a mac, you can get it here.

And look! The menus work!

And the blu-ray plays!

There must be some reason it isn’t working for you. What other trouble shooting steps have you tried?

The NJVC Custom Bluray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions is available on Mega.

The issue I referred to earlier is similar to pittrek’s regarding VLC, but only for NJVC’s ISOs. (Specifically the actual movies on the 50 GB versions - I haven’t tried the 25 GB versions.)

With the help of the extra libraries, I can now play commercial Blu-rays on VLC no problem, with menus etc. Both with and without these libraries, I can also play some unofficial Blu-ray discs such as TN1’s Renegade Grindhouse ESB (~22 GB ISO).

But VLC won’t play the main movie in the NJVC ISOs on my system. Menu / extras are fine.
Windows 10 Pro, Intel i7 2.93 GHz, 4 core, 8 GB RAM.

Sorry for taking this thread in the technical direction and thus a little off topic. Any PMs about it welcomed, however.

Bluto,

i just tried this with VLC on my machine, and sure enough, clicking “Play Film” just kinda hangs. other features play. (50 GB disc only)

I burned to disc ages ago, and the discs work perfectly fine for me on set top players.

If I use the VLC playback menu and select title 21 (the feature) i also just hang VLC.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Count me in for a copy of the files, thank you for doing this!

VLC will play the stream, but not the full ISO or the menus.

VLC does NOT play Blu-rays, doesn’t matter what some people say

That’s not true. VLC doesn’t play encrypted Blu-ray’s like the ones you buy in the store but has had support for Blu-ray menus and playback for unencrypted (like AACS) Blu-ray’s (like the NJVC set)

You can download a library to make it play encrypted discs.

Does anyone here know why njvc’s Blu-ray files have been posted to MySpleen? I mean it sounds like a total pain in the butt in even trying to access the site, especially with all of the people coming here and asking for invites. Wouldn’t it be simpler if the files were uploaded to a more public site where everything isn’t invite only?

it would be easier.
if you read a few pages back (maybe more), njvc pulled his publicly posted files after all the crap that was being sold on ebay etc. I don’t envy him, feeling like your work work has turned into something that could get the wrong kind of attention is not a fun feeling.

Haha, yeah I just checked ebay, and what do you know? Someone is trying to sell their Despecialized editions for $100. I feel like someone should make an ebay account and post the despecialized editions on sale and in the description tell the people that YOU CAN LITERALLY GET ALL OF THIS FOR FREE ONLINE AND THAT THE REST OF THESE ARE SCAMS. It’s especially obvious since none of the sellers offer any sort of refunds.

I know the seller who has the 200$+ set and the set of the Grindhouse editions is on the spleen. I got into a PM altercation with him on ebay. I said something to the effect of “it’s sickening that you willingly exploit others works for profit, also exploiting desperate fans” and he said “It’s not my fault you’re too incompetent to receive a myspleen invite (insert racial slur)”. The spleen has been infiltrated.

JEDIT: (small part I forgot to add) This is why I find it a little unfair that they aren’t publicly available. Now I do believe NVJC has all the right in the world to pull them down because of the massive influx of people selling his work, and by no means is this a dig at NVJC, his work on this set is incredible. But I do feel like it is a little unfair to newcomers.

P.S.- Thank again to Harmy for making these edits, to towne for the colour correction, to NVJC for this kickass set, and the cat who sent me a spleen invite before invites were closed (you know who you are).

Wow. Didn’t know it’d been taken off. Kind of a bummer but I understand.
This is a reason that it took so long to happen. Nobody wanted it out there like this. It has always been one of those things everyone knew would happen (some idiot selling copies).

These all look incredible and all the better being fan made. When will this be available and how do I get my hands on a copy? TIA

Unless you have myspleen you pretty much can’t get this right now. Who knows when you will be able to since myspleen invites are closed. However you can still get the despecialized versions that are included in this set by more public user friendly means, just without all the bells and whistles. (Shiny menus, bonus features, etc.) The films themselves weren’t changed from Harmys Despecialized version for this, they were just assembled into a shiny Blu Ray with menus and bonus features. You can still get the despecialized versions by themselves.

I just saw someone posting an ad on Facebook for these blu-rays. What the hell?
