Making Puerto Rico into a state was in the 2016 GOP platform.
The question is, besides the one 2012 vote where Puerto Rican’s said they aren’t satisfied with their current govt enough? The “stay territory” party still has the majority in their legislature.
Another problem is they don’t speak English. In that way it’s hard to see how they can effectively merge as a state.

Also fifty states is the perfect number. But this can be solved by firing up the Texas sucessionist movement again!
