You’re telling me you’ve never found a character in a novel interesting.

Think of all the characters who don’t even exist before they appear in a novel. You’re saying not even a novel could add depth to them?

Not in any meaningful way…Thing is that the author wouldn’t be pulling information from the source material to further develop Phasma; she would be inventing things that would add artificial depth to Phasma. Whatever characterization is added will not be felt in TFA (which is the likely case for TLJ and IX as well) so it’s essentially meaningless. That’s just me though.
