Yoda and Kenobi died in prequels.
They were projections of Anakin’s memories in the original films given substance by the good man still trapped in Vader.
This is why they begin to fade away. As Luke becomes stronger Anakin’s tangible living son becomes a better incarnation of the light side in his character.
Weirdly that sounds pretty awesome.
