STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED ** — Page 21

What .Mac said.

The logic with having some shuttles in the background is

A.) Working on a large battle station, there needs to be some “traffic,” secret building or not. The station needs supplies and building material.
B.) The heroe’s course catches the attention of the Executor since it is going to the planet and not the station. That is why it seems “out of no where” a shuttle is appearing and going to the planet and not the station since that’s what is being worked on.

No dialogue needs to be altered and doesn’t mess around with Vader sensing or not. Even if the viewer does not know what happens in the movie next … when watching the original, it seems pretty clear the “sensing” appears after Vader’s question and begins “pondering” about it. (scene with Vader looking away) Sorry if I am not quite understanding your thinking Jan-wan.

Granted, there does not need to be thousands of shuttles (or enough to litter the scene of vessels) since the emperor is not having “all hands on deck” to build DSII since he wants to cement the idea of the Rebels that the base is incomplete and is “vulnerable.”

Sorry maybe I wasn’t clear.
Actually I said it would be good to see some traffic.

And not talking about visual distraction here. It’s logical, that we see the shuttle breaking off course, that would seemingly cause Vader’s actions.
This is the post I responded to, and somehow got lost:

And in this situation when Vader says: “Where is that shuttle going?”, it’s really hard to think that his actions and question is the result of feeling Luke’s presence near by.

  1. Even ignoring the PT, many people have complained that DS2 was nearing completion in too short a time, so I thought that a less completed version might mitigate that complaint.

Once you know how to design/build something, it would more than likely take a much shorter time to do it again.

Was about to say the same.
Plus you already have experience, you know the flaws, you know what to correct etc…
I would build the same, but better.

An Empire had to start growing, and because of that, the research still being done, and all of the production delays, it took a whole 19 years for the Death Star I to be fully finished. It only took 4 years for the Death Star II to be built because by then, the Empire was in full power.

And it sounds like the book canon says that they finished the superstructure years ago, it just took them a decade to make the weapon work. Now that they know how to do that, they just have to mount the weapon on a frame and hook it up to a reactor.

Near the opening of Rogue One is where they added the dish onto it, which was the finishing touch.

And yet in Revenge of the Sith we see them building the dish as part of the frame of the station. Maybe it got broked up 😄

He suggested that it initially be in line with other crafts, but then it breaks away from the group and soon after Vader sees this shuttle out on its own and off course, hence, “Where is that shuttle going?” It’s no problem at all.

My main question about this sequence is how will Ady be fixing the Executor’s bridge here, and all of the inconsistencies about it. For example (and it’s the big one), that computer terminal is not supposed to be right there in the middle of the walkway, as seen in ESB. That’s why I am in favor of possibly restructuring this sequence a bit and then, in doing so, have it be an Imperial tech from the DS giving the authorization to let them through (which makes sense that the DS has the “keys” to lower the shield, as it was already established in the beginning, instead of the Executor).

Wishlist Of Ideas/Suggestions For Improving ROTJ

Thanks for the link five, I’ll admit, I own the blu ray set but have not watched the originals… I first bought the set and immediately downloaded Harmy’s edit and watched those. (I held off since there were so many as changes… and then a buddy told me abour harmy)

I will say that is a step up from the original due to technical limitations. I am VERY curious about what Adywan will do if he wants to improve it.

The reasons I like the newer one more is not only because the defrosting looks more consistent, but Han’s lips also don’t look as obviously photographed onto it.

I am, however, very much in favor of seeing a string of thousands of various cargo/construction crafts moving between the Death Star and the moon, which can include the Zeta-class; for there it makes sense and I hope we see it.

I was thinking of this too, but does the current dialog on the Star Destroyer allow for Tydirium to just be one of hundreds they’ve seen today? And would they all have to pass right over the Destroyer and “fly casual”?

It would be cool to see dozens of shuttles milling about the Death Star, but since the moon only contains the shield generator and this is operational, there shouldn’t be many craft traveling that way. So perhaps Tydirium is in a line of shuttles headed for the Death Star but breaks away for the moon, taking it across the path of the destroyer.

“Where is that shuttle going?” Could work!

But this would eliminate a very important piece of information, that Vader can feel Luke’s presence, and that he realizes that the Emperor was right, and his son came to him.
If he thinks this is just a rebel shuttle they might just shoot it down. I see no reason why Vader would let them land on Endor.

The only thing this changes is that Vader questions where the shuttle is going because it’s breaking from the normal route. It doesn’t alter the fact that Vader then senses Luke.
And they don’t think it’s a Rebel shuttle, it’s an Imperial cargo ship and the older clearance code they have “still checks out”. None of that is changed.

Agreed. Breaking from a line of traffic destined for the Death Star to make it’s way toward the forest moon would garner Vader’s attention - especially if it is implied by the existing dialogue that he can sense Luke’s presence. Having Piett ask what their cargo and destination is would comport with Vader’s query.

I find your lack of faith…disturbing

Well, I have to admit that it’s a step up over the original. Still room for improvement though.

Not sure if that makes Editroid feel any better.

The only thing I would do is tone the shine down a little bit.

Wow, glad to be back on the board again. Wasn’t much to say after 2011 or so.

As usual lurking… Reading developments. Being ignored 😉 Glad to be apart of ROTJ:R

I don’t mind the new blu ray effect. Definetly better than original and as stated before. Room for improvement.

For what it’s worth:

After re-watching the movie recently, here’s my own wish-list of changes (with hopefully most of the points already covered in this thread omitted). Apologies for the length and for any repitition.

TATOOINE
Undo pointless inconsistent Blu-Ray changes such as the door to Jabbas palace being much larger on the outside, but still the same size inside.

Fix the Luke hologram to match the rest of the saga (desaturate, blue tint, add scanlines).

Have the Gamorrean guard strike the tentacled beast in the cage, rather than miss it with a dull thud.

When Jabba knocks Threepio down make Jabba actually strike him rather than Threepio apparently doing a twirl and falling over for no reason.

Have Luke somehow make use of his lightsaber during the battle, rather than just swinging it like a nerf bat.

Even if the lead up is done in a less silly way, still have Boba Fett end up inside the Sarlacc.

Remove the Sarlacc burp gag. One per movie is enough.

Have the chain dig more deeply into Jabba’s throat when Leia’s pulling it.

Don’t re-instate the sandstorm. The current pacing works well at that point.

DAGOBAH
Keep Luke’s visit to Yoda after Tatooine rather than before it. Luke needs a reason for being away so long - his friends.

Have Yoda say “Luke” less often.

ENDOR
Don’t have the scout’s speeder turn corners while he is looking backwards.

Fix or replace the speeder POV shots where the forest can be seen running out, as the footage approaches a clearing.

Keep the scene with Leia and Wicket. This is likely the first instance where an Ewok has been shown kindness by a hitherto mysterious and cruel human race, and a key to getting the Ewoks’ cooperation (even if they still needed a golden man to levitate).

Translate the lines “Yes that’s wise” and “Nice and short” into Ewok-ese.

I think the dialogue in the “I’m sorry”, “Hold me” exchange is redundant and the scene works better without it.

Keep the Ewok traps for the AT-ST’s, but have them trigger before Chewie hijacks one. Currently it looks like the Ewoks could be trapping Chewie.

Fix the terrible effect of the shot AT-ST that, after exploding quite well, quickly cross-fades to a static model of just the legs.

Maybe a little hard to fix, but if possible remove Han’s inappropriate grab when Leia is shot.

DEATH STAR
Make the Death Star bridge bigger, with more consoles and possibly a corridor. Somehow it just feels small, possibly due to lighting.

Fix the blue button pressed by the Imperial operator when Vader’s shuttle is granted passage, which is clearly just a painted square. Have it react somehow by being depressed or lighting up.

Enhance the display off to the side in the throne room, which has pictures on it early in the film but later is blank.

When the first capital ship is hit by the Death Star laser, have the nearby ships react in some way, being tossed by the shockwave or at least taking some damage.

Add more sparks to Vader’s suit as he’s carrying Palpatine to show his suit is now useless, maybe even blow out the chestplate.

Make Palpatine fall a bit further before exploding, making it more apparent he hit the bottom.

Straighten Vader’s bent wrist when he’s leaning over looking down into the shaft.

As the Death Star explodes, make the transition from space POV to Endor POV better somehow. Currently it’s a bit of a letdown when the music hits the high note there isn’t really a visual spectacle to match it.

They told me they’d fixed it!

I feel the same needs to be done to the Executor bridge. It looks great in ESB (even better in ESB:R) but in ROTJ it looks like it’s closed for the night and they’re hangin’ out after hours. Low lights and it seems like most of the screens and machines have been turned off.

JEDIT- that may have been what you were talking about in the first place. I don’t remember the bridge on the Death Star.
