STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED ** — Page 17

“Now the shuttle Tydirium is going to be changed. One thing that has always bugged me is that the same model ship that is used for dignitaries, is also being used to transport cargo and troops. This ship needs to be a different model. More in line with a cargo shuttle, similar to what was seen in Rogue One and the troop transport in the SE ANH.”

Adywan mentioned that the Shuttle will be changed potentially to the Rogue One design. I think adding the Rogue One Shield Gate also might be a little too on the nose.

Porkins?
Strange. 😛

Only thing I will suggest in this thread is to remove or replace as many puppets in ROTJ as possible.

There is something so lacking in quality in Jabba’s palace compared to ESB - and even it’s much-cheaper ANH counterpart, that the entire sequence is so conflicting to witness. From one scene to another I go from excited to laughing, to annoyed, to laughing again. I will never forget last year when me and two friends re-watched ROTJ the first time in two years (for my part at least), and I was so conflicted about the whole beginning. We couldn’t stop laughing at certain parts because of the stiff movements from many of the aliens, or their horrible facial designs and/or movements. The whole experience made ROTJ into a comedy for me.

If replacing or somehow improving proves difficult or too expensive, I’d suggest just removing the worst designs that are in the forefront all together.

The problem isn’t just that many of the designs are poorly done or ineffective in costume, but that it cheapens the entire sequence in Jabba’s Palace, which is a very worrying problem for the rest of the movie.

The designs that do work are undeniably Jabba, Boba Fett, Leia in disguise, Jabba’s Guards, and others given more than a two-second treatment. Most of the others… what were they thinking… this wasn’t 1950. This was the 80’s! The height of puppeteering and practical effects. And simply going for “background characters will go unnoticed” as a thought of process simply won’t due.

WHAT HAVE I DONE?
The Ancient Lore
Kenobi: A Star Wars Story
Harry Potter Revisited
Game of Thrones Film Edits
Titanic Restructured
… and more.

I’ve assumed Ackbar is giving the mark to the capital ships, with Lando giving the mark to the fighters.

Admiral Ackbar says “prepare to jump to hyperspace on my mark”, and Lando answers “all right, stand by”. And then he jumps into hyperspace!

He says, “All craft, prepare to jump into hyperspace on my mark”.

There is a trilling beeping noise right before Lando hits the lever. I always assumed that was the “mark” broadcast to all ships.

They told me they’d fixed it!

You may be right but I never noticed the beeping. I’ll check it out later when i’m home. Since a few of us thought this was a mistake, there might be a little fix to the mix to be made so the beeping is clearer ?

I was a big fan of the work done on ANH:R and ESB:R (except for reverting Bobbas voice, and I will fight to the death over that 😄)

One could make the argument that Boba wanted to form his own persona, and not live in the shadow of the clones that were in his “father”'s image, so he adopted a different voice.

That would work if not for the fact he uses his own voice in TCW.

Reverting Boba’s voice to the new version wouldn’t be that hard to do if you want to “personalize” your own ESB:R (both interpretations are good but the original one is far more sinister).
Since Ady is no longer willing to do PT:R I guess we won’t see Temuera Morrison’s face when Boba is seducing the cute dancers.

A) Accents being genetically determined is silly.

But yeah better Fett voice is here to stay so if you want to change it back do your own versions.

It’s not genetically determined though, he uses Logans voice in AoTC and TCW and sounds similar to Morrison (because it was him) when he ages in the same way Rex sounds different when younger (Baker isn’t very good to start with, affecting an Australian accent in TCW) but sounds far more like Morrison by Rebels. None of those are American accents.

I’m just a massive fan of how Morrison sounds (I played Republic Commando) but I don’t feel like making a custom version of TESB:R for the simple reason the recording of the lines isn’t very good in the SE.

I guess I was unclear originally, I meant ‘I prefer Bobba having a Kiwi accent over a generic cowboy one’ rather than ‘I prefer the takes of the dialogue used in the SEs over the original’.

Australian?! Oh, phew - then you bring up Kiwi accent on Logan lol. If you want an ex-pat Kiwi speaking an Australian accent (and I don’t mean Russell Crowe), look no further than Manu Bennett.

No, both Morrison and Logan use their native New Zealand accents but Baker uses what he thinks is a New Zealand accent that sounds Australian through much of TCW. It only starts to sound more Kiwi into Rebels.

I’ve long been a proponent of removing Fett from ROTJ entirely, but I have to say I like the idea of Fett informing Vader about Luke’s presence at Jabba’s palace. If that could be worked out convincingly, I’d be happy.

But if not, I’m still all for axing Fett from ROTJ.

that just might work…

Should he really be making a videocall? He is a bounty hunter I think that a little more stealth would be appropriate. How long would he be staying? Will he be eaten like in the OT? But blast himself out in time to see the rebels leaving the planet?

Ok I’ve checked and… yep, there is a signal given, so nothing to fix here!

Has anyone talked about Vader’s head going through the shuttle ceiling ?

I’m sure that matte is high on Adywan’s list. Knowing him he’s probably building a physical model of the platform in scale to some shuttle model…

Yeah, but which voice is he using to not talk in though? There are questions that need answering.

Maybe Boba can send some kind of subspace transmission or something.

Is anyone else bothered by the carbonite thawing? I’m not just talking about the effects, but also the body mold imprint that Harrison Ford fell out of. I always felt that it wasn’t very form fitting and that the “hole” was too large for Harrison. When all parts are taken as a whole, I don’t feel that the scene has aged particularly well.

That scene bothers me more because Boushh (Leia) lets Han fall out of the encasement straight onto the hard floor. I guess one could rationalize it by saying he needed a solid jolt to start his heart again, but it still seems rather… brutal.

I just watched this scene again. Since you’re dealing with Boushh’s robotic voice (and no moving lips) it wouldn’t be hard to redub the lines, adding something to explain her actions. Something like:

“Just relax for a moment. You are free of the carbonite. The fall has shocked your system awake. You have hibernation sickness.”
