If presented with the following quiz:
Undocumented Mexican immigrants started leaving the US in greater numbers than they were arriving:
a) Before Obama took Office
b) During the Obama administration
c) During the Trump administration
d) This has not actually happened yetI suspect most Republicans would answer D. Sadly, I suspect most Democrats would answer C. The correct answer is A.
I chose B. Can I get half credit?
And his supporters moved to supporting Hillary at a faster rate than Hillary’s moved to Obama, so if Bernie’s supporters were being unreasonable, at least they were less unreasonable than Hillary’s.
They were? I don’t remember that way. I remember it as Bernie supporters being sore losers at the Convention.
Follow the link, and let me know if you dispute it. Bernie supporters moved pretty quickly to Hillary, Hillary’s were much more likely to dig in their heels and held their breath until they turned blue. I suspect the people making noise at the convention were either the Republican operatives I was talking about, or people duped by them. Luckily, as shown by the link, they didn’t represent Bernie supporters as a whole either way.

Sorry, still not convinced. I don’t believe all the those people at the convention supporting Bernie were merely Republican operatives.

Or duped by them. H.A. Goodman wrote a lot of articles (published on otherwise left-leaning places like Huffington Post) and had quite a following, even some at this site fell for it. So do you dispute the link showing Bernie supporters rapidly flocked to Hillary, or what? Or do you think the article is true and that my assessment was correct that Bernie supporters were by and large very reasonable compared with Hillary supporters and you still want to judge them based on this non-representative never-Hillary subset? I don’t get where you’re going.
I believe that Bernie supporters were outraged at Bernie being railroaded, and that they felt the arguments that Bernie leveled against Hillary for being corrupt and owned by the corporations were of legitimate concern.
The reason why any Bernie supporters might have stopped digging in their heels would be in opposition to Trump; not in response to Bernie’s political backing of Hillary. I got the impression that many Bernie supporters voted for neither rather than voting for her.

That does not appear to be borne out by the evidence we’re discussing – I’m sure some did this, but certainly a much smaller percentage than Hillary supporters who didn’t vote for Obama – so “many” is taking it pretty far.
GUYS IT’S ALL EVERYONE’S FAULT
Except for mine, of course. I voted correctly.

I ❤️ Sarah Silverman. Always have.
Lol.

So, that’s a yes? What, specifically, do you disagree with in the Washington Post’s cited polls? Is it a methodology thing? Do you know someone who did a poll showing otherwise?
Seriously, not even addressing this question, to me, makes it seem like you agree with everything I’ve said (including that Hillary’s supporters were more unreasonable than Bernie’s in this regard) and you just want to shit-talk Bernie supporters anyway because screw evidence. You want to shit-talk the idiots at the convention, fine, I’m all with you on that, but I’m talking about Bernie supporters, the vast majority of whom weren’t actually in attendance at the convention.
It’s hard to say how well I would take it if I lost an election to Trump. I’d certainly be devastated, maybe even suicidal, when faced with the knowledge that Americans prefer Trump to me. It’s hard to imagine anything more humiliating for someone in her position. She is obviously psychologically “managing” it by dropping into a sort of self-defense “justification” mode. It’s not uncommon, although all it does is further tarnish her image.
Hillary’s image doesn’t need to be tarnished. Not counting Trump since he isn’t a politician, she was the most hated politician in the country in 2016. I don’t get why people that hate Trump don’t hate her too. She’s the reason he won. If the Democrats had run Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Taylor then it would have been a sure Democrat victory.
EDIT: I actually meant to type Elizabeth Warren, but I’ll leave it as is since it made me laugh.
The Person in Question

You know, I don’t trust Daily Kos polling information anymore. Right up to the end, they had polling that said Hillary was 88% or so likely to win against Trump, even as other polls were tanking hard and fast.
To have DK say, in June of last year, that Sanders supporters were rushing to back Hillary faster than Hillary supporters backed Obama is in the realm of wishful thinking rather than hard evidence. Besides, the actual voter turnout during the general election would seem to have indicated otherwise.
What bothers me is that there is no definitive answer as to why Trump won. Everyone out there is guessing. Russia. Wikileaks. Comey. Bernie. Status quo. Rust belt. …I want someone with actual quantifiable evidence to say “this is why Trump won the primaries; and that is why Hillary’s poll numbers were oh-so-wrong, and EXACTLY why they tanked in the last week.”
But no. All we have is guesswork, blame games, and a good old fashioned hands-in-the-air WTF.
I do not take Daily Kos articles as evidence to support supposed fact. Not when the pollsters had worse aim than an OT Imperial Stormtooper.

It’s not that it’s guesswork, it’s that everyone is correct. The margin was so thing that all those things mattered. The people who are wrong are the ones who are insisting it was only one of those things that was to blame.
You forgot to list Hillary. Also forgot to list anyone who didn’t vote for her. Also racism. Also sexism. Also Islamophobia. Also xenophobia. Also other things I’m sure.
Double trouble.

That’s not polling. That’s a forecast based on polling. Yes, it was a bad forecast, but don’t conflate polling and forecasting.
Also, it’s hard to not say that Clinton winning was the most possible outcome. Just because we only live in one universe, a lot of people look at past events and say that that was the only way it could have happened. People are not good with dealing with probabilities.
Also, to reiterate, Clinton’s chance of winning the election was probably lower than that forecast indicated.

There’s not going to be one reason. Failures are often multi-faceted, with many reasons and factors contributing.
Clinton’s poll numbers weren’t actually all that wrong. Polling averages had Clinton ahead on the eve of the election by four or so points. She won the popular vote by 2.1 points. The polls were actually more accurate than in 2012. The pollsters did a good job this time. Many people don’t acknowledge that.
I don’t get why people that hate Trump don’t hate her too.
I don’t get why people insist that Trump and Hillary are equally bad.
She’s the reason he won.
See my above post. She’s one of the reasons.

I thought you were making a point, which is that anyone but Hillary would have beaten Trump. Which might be true, but I don’t buy this idea that Sanders or Warren automatically would have won. Probably, ok, but it discounts all the non-Hillary reasons Trump won.
Warren and Sanders both had negatives that would have been a big deal in the general election. Probably not as negative as Clinton, but you can’t just simply discount those negatives completely.
Is it just me, or do they look like they’re about to kiss?
Where were you in '77?

I don’t get why people that hate Trump don’t hate her too.
Because:
She has respect for our political allies;
Despite her public image, she is able to make compromises with people in Congress to get things done;
She wouldn’t outright provoke North Korea nor drop MOABs on the Middle East;
She understands that humans are significantly contributing to climate change and that the Paris Agreement is an important step toward rectifying that;
She is not bigoted, sexist, nor willfully inflammatory outside of occasionally putting her foot in her mouth;
and she actually is genuinely qualified for the job.
She’s the reason he won. If the Democrats had run Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren then it would have been a sure Democrat victory.
Bernie, yes. Warren, I doubt it. Elizabeth Warren was the one who accused female Bernie-supporters during the primaries of betrayal to the cause of feminism for not backing Hillary. She’s not really super popular among the mainstream.

Bernie would have had a lot of trouble too. Does no one remember how much of a dirty word “socialist” is?
