Seems like no one actually read the whole thing I wrote. I talked about reducing the impact Ewoks cause, I do realize cutting or replacing them entirely would be near impossible at best.
Adyone already said he would be removing slapstick Ewok moments, I was just suggesting restoring some of the deleted bunker scenes and removing even more in a tasteful manner.

They only exist because Chewbacca got a main role, therefore they could not be Wookies anymore, as they were in early drafts.
Since it is impossible to replace Ewoks with Wookies, getting rid of Ewoks is getting rid of Star Wars, as they were always part of it, from the very first draft.You do realize you are contradicting yourself… First you say it was Wookies in the early drafts, then you say Ewoks was part of it from the very first draft. And it is not an urban legend. George Lucas always had this mindset of adding slapstick moments and adding characters that would (in his opinion) appeal kids and make good toys. Just look at Gungans and Jar Jar, whole reason they exist is the same as well. One could argue, getting rid of them getting rid of Star Wars as they WERE a part of it from the very first draft. But we both know no one, including myself, would agree to that. (in this case, it is actually true, they were in the first draft and your argument is invalid)

You don’t understand. The Ewoks are the Wookiees. Just got smaller, and got renamed.
Pretty sure that some journalist, who hated the Ewoks came up with this selling toys crap, and people who hate the Ewoks want to believe it, because it is convinient, and allows them to easily rationalize their hatred.

Artoo and Threepio appeal to kids too, they make good toys too, yet nobody wants to get rid of them. And most certainly were not created to sell toys.

I know George Lucas would not wanna get rid of the Ewoks. That is one. I think Adywan never mentioned getting rid of Ewoks. Thats two.
Getting rid of the Ewoks, or getting rid of slapstick moments are very different.
I always hated too, how childish the Ewoks are, and for a very long time it didn’t even occured to me either, that they eat people, despite that I watched ROTJ like a hundred times.
So making the Ewoks more menacing somehow is a good idea.
