Fett's "Death" in ROTJ

Excuse as a Fett fan i was more than outraged to see one of my characters "die" in a slapstick sequence..

PS I hope that for the 3D or next DVD release he makes a new scene where he escapes the sarlaac.

You know that George Lucas made a comment indicating that he was almost going to do that for the 2004 DVD release, but decided that it wouldn't fit.

That would be an awesome change, and it would almost make buying the DVDs worth it. But, if you read the book "Tales from Jabba's Palace", he actually doesn't get out of the Sarlaac untill, like... 3 months later.

Yeah, had something to do with him being somewhat protected by his Mandalore armor and then using his jetpack to blast his way out. But not before having his flesh burned by gastric acid.

GL didn't care for Boba Fett, and never intended him to be the cult hit he was. He basically didn't care how he died, just wanted to see it happen. However, over the years he has seen how popular he was with the fans and he's changed his tune. Hence, Jango Fett.

Maybe, at the end of RotJ when all the happy music is playing and it goes from planet to planet showing people celebrate, it could go to the Sarlaac and we could see Dengar helping Boba Fett! That would be awesome! I seriously doubt Lucas would do it though...

But, anyone who wants to get the full story of how Boba Fett got out needs to get the books Tales from Jabba's Palace and Tales of the Bounty Hunters. If you read through both of those, you'll get the complete story.

Exactly, he was supposed to be a secondary character and suddenly got fans interest. I never really cared for Bobba Fett, and the first times I've seen ESB I almost didn't notice him at all...

I think he's dead. Not because I don't like some of the EU stuff, but George Lucas' original intention was for him to die.

In the original script, there's a line that refers to Boba Fett making his "last flight" ever into the Sarlacc pit. This implies that he never got out.

Of course GL could change this if he wanted, but I'm convinced that this was his original intention.

It was also his "original intention" for Greedo to shoot first. Some things are just better when they're not the way Lucas wants them to be.

And when he went back to change it, he wrecked the entire scene. That's the most famous reason people hate the SE's.

He's dead to me, just like the prequels!
"Drink the Kool-Aid. Wear blinders. Cover your ears. Because that's the only way you can totally enjoy Revenge of the Sith -- the final and most futile attempt from skilled producer, clumsy director and tin-eared writer George Lucas to create a prequel trilogy to match the myth-making spirit of the original Star Wars saga he unleashed twenty-eight years ago. Fan boys, of course, have convinced themselves otherwise. So have several critics, if you go by early reviews."

nop he is alive, he blew up a vong battleship in 'the unifying force'

He's not dead because he never existed in first place, it's a character, so it's rather pointless to discuss if he's alive or not...

Even though he is

Fett died when I watched AOTC and saw that he was an annoying little clone dude.

it was a very bad move to "unmask" Boba Fett and make him a clone...it kills the mystery of the character, just like the recent origins of Wolverine.
In SW some characters need background and origins and some don't, because they exists only because of this mystery around them.

ps: don't forget, George : "less is more"

I thought he died earlier in the NJO, at Sernpidal.

Anyways, he, like all the others, are truly dead, since this all happened "A long, long time ago...."

I find it humorous many fanboys worship Boba to no end, yet he has possibly the most ridiculous death in Star Wars. That said, I think an extended Luke/Boba confrontation at the sail barge (with stunt doubles of course) would be a good addition in a future DVD release.
