Does anyone have information on when these 3 novels will be available electronically in the U.S.? It has been almost 4 months since the release in May.

Also I noticed a new release of a canon book “Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space: The Dark(ness)” I see a Kindle edition but no iBooks. Strange.

I think you’re talking about the same thing, but with different cover images. The “new” ones aren’t “official” canon either, they were reprinted with different covers, so they may have just not bothered updating the digital versions.

Makes sense to me. More sense than the same guy rewriting his junior novelizations 13 years later.

Fixed it for all the miserable curmudgeons.

According to Wookieepedia the ones I linked to are canon, they are similar to the ones from 2004 but have been edited to fit the new canon

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:Return_of_the_Jedi(paperback_novel)

vs.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Episode_VI:Return_of_the_Jedi(junior_novelization)

(note sure how to fix the links)

“The book is a reprint of the Star Wars Legends novel Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (junior novelization), which was written by Ryder Windham, edited by Egmont editor Emil Fortune to make the book fit with the current new canon.”

That’s wild and also insane. What would they have to change of junior novelizations of the OT to make them canon? Without any further explanation, I wouldn’t trust Wookieepedia on this.

Somebody on TheForce.Net did word by word comparisons and a lot was changed, such as replacing “Secretly stolen plans” with “Plans stolen in battle” or something or other.

Not enough people read the EU.

Leia heard the sounds of generators powering up, but kept her stunned eyes on the viewscreen. Even from space, Alderaan was lushly beautiful, its grassy plains making the world resemble an emerald amidst the stars. Before Leia became a Senator, she had spent most of her youth on the green world. She knew its geography so well that she could - from her perspective on the Death Star - pinpoint the capital, Aldera, where she’d grown up … where her father still lived.
After the battle of Scarif, in which the plans for the Death Star had been stolen, Bail Organa had returned home to tell his people that war was coming … but his warning would come too late.
She wondered what time it was, if he was in their home right now.
Father, I’m so sorry.

Italics are deleted, bold added.

This is crazy.

This brings to mind a question I’ve been sitting on for awhile: Is it alright for books to be “updated” years after they were written (to reflect additions/alterations made to the wider canon; revise dated technological/pop cultural references; etc.) even if they’re just silly kids’/young adult books which weren’t the greatest pieces of literature to begin with?

Thanks all,

I don’t have the “legends” version of the books, and in my attempt to read the “new” canon material I picked these new releases.

Maybe I’m misguided by Wookieepedia but I’m using this as a reference of “new canon”

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_canon_media

That list minus video games, comic books, and young reader books.

Here is my progress…(I’m caught up except for recently published books in the past month)
