It depresses me that it is not the opinion held by everyone. There was time when just about everyone held this view.

Source?
seriously?
There was time when just about everyone held this view.
Are you sure about that?
Also we could say something similar about segregation, suffrage, etc. And I don’t know why I have to keep saying that.
JEDIT:

Yes, seriously. What’s your source on it?
Seems it’s ok to be convicted of dog fighting and stay in the NFL, but heaven forbid you take a knee during the anthem.

No that not ok! When the Eagles signed the dog murdered, I refused to wear any Eagles apparel until the day after he was no longer a member of the team. I basically didn’t consider myself an Eagles fan during that time.

pretty sure.

yes I know, just because everyone believes something, doesn’t mean they are right.

I don’t think I need one, It is pretty obvious. What do you think would have been the reaction if someone tried to protest during the National Anthem in the 1950s or during WWII? I think they would have stoned the protesters(not that I am saying that what should be done or that I would want to do that).

Maybe in this years, when America was in its first anti-communist hysteria, but there were a lot of protests in later years, even at sporting events sometimes.

The only other time I can remember someone protesting during the national anthem before Kaepernick was when those twp African Americans raised their fists.

I am truly saddened that we don’t have ideological homogeneity. What has the world come to? 😛
Something deep and more thought provoking than the current conversation in the politics thread
SAD!
In all seriousness, this is only a semi-serious whine. No one need feel obliged to reply to anything I say. Mostly having some fun. 😃

I’m going to have to report you for that, Friend Citizen.

If you’re referring to your post about white privilege, I was actually considering responding to/agreeing with it, but I decided against it for whatever reason.

*sigh*
ideological homogeneity was not quite what I was talking about.
I’m gonna do it anyway. Personally, I think the problem of ‘white privilege’ needs to be framed differently. It’s too easy for the concept of ‘white privilege’ to be taken personally, as I feel that Warbler has shown. In the eyes of some; ‘white privilege’ belittles their accomplishments by telling them “that’s great and all, but it wasn’t all you, you had it easier because you’re white.” I also think that the term lacks nuance. It’s been brought up here before; but it’s silly to say that a homeless white man has privilege, when he’s on the lowest level of society. He doesn’t have any special rights, or advantages, he’s the definition of disadvantaged. Perhaps he has it slightly better than a homeless black man, I don’t know, but it’s downright insulting to say that he’s privileged.
It was a thoughtful post ender, but I don’t think I have anything to say on the topic that I haven’t already said before.
Like, for example, I could respond to Jeebus’s argument^ on homeless people with a post that I made a few weeks ago, but I don’t really see the point of that.

I feel like not everyone understands what makes something white privilege.
For example, whining about the possible connotations of “thug” has nothing to do with one’s accomplishments or how homeless one is.

I still don’t understand how thug has racial connotations.

Look, I’ll agree that I haven’t experienced all the bad stuff black people have. But still, I think it is offensive and wrong to render my opinions in regards to racism null and void due to my race. I think it is wrong to treat me like some sort of clueless jackass due to my race. I wish you’d knock that off.
