I’ve been experimenting with different blu-ray creators for Revisited. The best by far I’ve found is DVDFab v10. Using the 25G 1080p option, burning onto a 25G disc, DVDFab creates a 14.3Gb M2ts file, retains 100% fps & upto 15 mps. It’s so smooth. 5/5
Other BR creators I’ve tried loose fps & some even skip frames every 2 seconds taking you out of the film.

DvdFab is wonderful.

However I would suggest just waiting until Ady releases the 25 gb blu ray himself which will fix some technical issues that this first release had.

What technical issues does the mkv have?

I vaguely remember Ady addressing this a couple times years ago. Essentially, the gist of it was that after deliberating on it for a bit he felt that the effect wasn’t realistic enough, and subsequently felt it was too distracting and dropped it. I certainly recall that the YouTube video noted it was an FX test that may or may not be used in the final product and nothing more.

Of course, stuff like this is always interesting to track IMO, especially with a project with such a long gestation as ESB:R.

Well maybe when he gets around the the Verison of ESB:R with special features, it’ll be there to veiw. Maybe it’ll be a special feature. He had other test footage on ANH:R. That being a option and a hidden dvd easter egg. I guess we can only see. Thanks for letting me know. I was on curious.

All my life as I looked away to the future, to the horizon. Never in my mind did I know where I was, what I was doing.

I think there was some masking issues and some artifacts in the image that will all be gone in the visually superior full size blu ray that will be released Adywan.

That is not Ady’s fault really, the shots are in the wrong order that is why the storm troopers are inconsistant. I looked at this part for years it’s really confusing but once you re-arrange it it starts to make more sense. But I don’t think Ady wanted to re-arrange the sequence. There are 2 shots missing and one pulled from another sequence where they run through the hall part which was flipped. But the footage was never released where the citizens of cloud city shot the storm troopers. It was like a rebellion against the empire scene on cloud city. It’s in the script and it was filmed.

The storm trooper on his own shooting behind the pillar is the one we see dead earlier with the group of storm troopers coming into the area. The shots are in the wrong order of sequence.

This was my final guess at in what order the shots were meant to be in. Key word here is guess. you can trust quite a bit of it not the start though.

Also I think pretty impossible to fix. Smoking R2-D2 is also from the part where he electrocutes himself. But it is also possible that they never left the door where R2-D2 electrocuted himself.

One thing I’m not a fan of is a line that was changed in the hologram scene with the Emperor.

On the original (pre-Special Edition), Palpatine says, “The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.” This line was a little confusing to viewers because he had just got done saying, “We have a new enemy: Luke Skywalker.” It made me (and others) think that Palpatine was talking about the son of Luke Skywalker… like, what?

So on the Blu-ray release, one of the better changes (in my opinion) was that George Lucas went back and adjusted the line so that Palpatine says, “The son of Anakin Skywalker must not become a Jedi.” Makes this make so much more sense.

Adywan changed the line back to the original — why? I actually preferred the version on the Blu-ray release, and I think new viewers to The Empire Strikes Back would appreciate it as well. It is a confusing line.

I didn’t find it confusing. Luke’s father had already been mentioned in ANH, and it had been established that Vader and Skywalker senior had an acrimonious history. I actually liked that in Revisited Palpatine now says “YOUNG Skywalker”, making it more clear there are young and old Skywalkers.

Prior to the DVD edition, the name “Anakin” isn’t mentioned until Return of the Jedi (not counting the prequels, of course).

It sets things up nicely for the big reveal towards the end of ESB.

They told me they’d fixed it!

I was never confused by that line. I assumed it meant that Luke’s father was a famous Jedi and his last name was also Skywalker. The Emperor was afraid that the son of a notable, powerful Jedi (who, I further assumed, the Emperor would know to have been trained by Obi-Wan, who also trained Vader) could be powerful himself and pose a threat to the Empire.

I think you guys are underestimating how confused newcomers are to the series when that line is spoken. At this point in the franchise, we only know of one Skywalker: Luke. We haven’t even heard the name other than when referred to with Luke.

While I don’t like all the changes in the Special Editions, editing the line to, “The son of Anakin Skywalker must not become a Jedi” makes it so much easier to understand. The whole line should have been rewritten, frankly.

I see what you mean, but I never had trouble understanding what he meant when I was a newcomer——and I was just five years old when I first saw ESB!

I changed nothing there. He still says “The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi” on the Blu-Ray release
