One of the quickest ways to check the brightness of a film is to see if the black widescreen bars that are created on some movies, such as MF's edits of the PT, is to see if the bars match the black 'space' elsewhere on the television. Just watch the beginning title card for his edits. The black is grey on a THX optimized TV (yes, I know you have to do it for each film you watch). Thus it's off. I'm not complaining, I just want to know of a quick way to fix it as I've promised about 5 friends free copies of it and want to give them the best picture as possible.
