Question about the new shot with the rebel transports taking off.
I noticed that the ION Canon is animated in the background and I know this shot changed a bit from what you first showed us ages ago. It’s got my wondering why it is animated?
It got me thinking things like is the laser bolt missing and then I thought, nah perhaps too early to fire.
I’m not really saying it’s a mistake or anything but I am really curious about this it seems like you had something planned and changed your plans or something!

The cannon is moving into position to provide cover fire for the last transports. It may have to shut down to recharge or maybe it puts the actual cannon away to camouflage itself from attack.

OK but it does look like it is recoiling after firing. And I do not think it matters if it fired if that was the plan at some point.
Just saying it does make sense how luke got away so easily. If there is at least the super star destroyer one downed star destroyer and three others chasing Han in the falcon then you have a mathematical sum of one star destroyer left and the super star destroyer.
If the last shot hits it’s target all being equal there is very little threat.
In the original storyboard luke veered right across the super star destroyer (flipped shot) not saying these are things you should do. But I can see the sense in you having the ion canon fire again if that was the idea because honestly it does look like that.
I don’t mind but it is like I can see in this part ideas that did not happen. Also if a bolt hit the Base before luke says “ok we are going” that would also make sense.
That is not a suggestion but who knows with this film… Some things are a bit mysterious not massively but a bit.

Seriously man It don’t matter it’s just interesting and I do not mind whatever the idea is. I only have one suggestion when you do ROTJ and it’s not visual or anything basically when you open the thread I will post it. But I don’t have much to say about that film. It does not have the mystery about it that empire has.
If it is meant to be coming out the round shell then it is not clear that is what it is doing…

Just because we don’t SEE the mining doesn’t mean it wasn’t happening. They didn’t add the facility to the SE to address an error, they added it because they wanted to fill empty space in a painting with something new and shiny.
Are the clouds the gas? Is the gas volatile? How could you fly a ship through them? These are questions that can be answered simply by saying the gas is further down in the atmosphere than the city. Putting a facility that close to the city begs all of those questions.

I give you the truth when Luke is going from the base that was an insert filmed well after principle photography in a car park. That is why you don’t see the snow. Who knows what the thinking is behind them putting the camera pan past the x-wing in a car park rather than in Noraway and in Elstree car park.
I don’t mind it and I am used to it but ROTJ went as planned pretty much and I don’t find that as interesting as this film that is the god’s honest truth.
