"Dual Layer Discs for Superb Picture and Quality"

Considering the number of extras he's got on each disc, that's not likely. It's kinda funny, since less than 15 minutes ago, Rikter and I were saying that the only good use of a DL disc at this point in time is to put a film and extras on each disc.

And digitally remastered, my butt. Digitally tweaked, perhaps, but that's about it.

I'm curious to know how he made his 5.1 soundtrack. I seriously doubt he put any of the work into it that I did.

Eh, at least he picked the artwork that I like the best.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

dual layer can also equal film plus lots of soundtrack options, motion menus plus a bit higher bit rate on the feature.

it gives you room to breathe.

Well, so this set is technically better then the Dr. Gonzo set? And I thought having images on a Disc makes it heavier and can ruin the disc and the Player. And what do you guys recommend when burning the covers? IE: What software best to use and what type of paper and print settings?

It’s Not the Years, It’s the Mileage.

This set is a dual layered, factory pressed boot. I got this one quite awhile ago and it sucks in comparison to the single layered editions that have already been made here. The video quality is not that great and is filled with interlacing errors. Although letterboxed, it is not 16:9 enhanced. I paid about $32 for it and was sorely disappointed! Steer clear!!!

Here is Rikter's listing on his trade list:

The Original Trilogy - The “Kristhemovieman” Edition
Also known as - The Definitive Edition Dual Layer Set
Sorry no duplication of this set - I can provide a link to buy it
- 3 DVD’s - HK “Pressed” Silver DVD
- Source - U.S. Definitive Collection LD rip version

Those are just the crappy dual layer Malaysian sets-avoid at all costs. Asians do not do LD transfers well.

From what I recall about this set, Kristhemovieman set this all up with a decent transfer and the extras and the manufacturer messed it up. Too bad.

I played around with upmixing a surround 2.0 track into 5.1 but had problems with the rear channels, basically it involves putting the 2.0 through WinDVD's Dolby Pro-Logic audio processing to end up with 6 mono audio tracks (except the sub track is empty, easy to create though from the 2.0 source) which you then mux into an AC3 file, the problem I had was that I couldn't get it to do Pro-Logic II where the rear surround channels are different, I was getting Pro-Logic I results where the rear channels are identical - my A/V reciever does Pro-Logic II upmixing better anyway so at that point I gave up trying to create 5.1 from 2.0.

Maybe that's why they're called "Mal-Asians."

Seriously, one's nationality has nothing to do with it -- except that some countries are notoriously lax when it comes to piracy, etc. China is probably number one on that list; I suspect Malaysia isn't too far down. Crooks are crooks, regardless of skin colour.

That's not the way I meant it.. I meant asian pirates, as opposed to russians, brazilians, etc. It wasn't meant to sound racist.

Most of Russia is Asian, too!

I knew your intention was benign -- I just wanted to make a bad pun.

That's almost what I did, except that I used Graphedit to split up the 2.0 into 6 channels, precisely because it *did* do Pro-Logic II decoding. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on it.

You obviously haven't seen the ace dual layer silvers they did of the SE and Indy trilogy then!

Yes, I had those also. They were overly bright and artificially sharpened-adequate for the time but not great. Actually now that I think about it, there is one really good LD transfer.. the Korean Indy set that was made to be sold to westerners during the '02 Seoul Olympics. It looked like snakeskin on each paper case and folded open to reveal the DVD case inside. They were produced by "Movie Korea" and can still be found on us.yesasia.com for some reason. From what I had read they were pulled off shelves after learning that the sets were unlicensed, although very well done. None of this really matters since the real Indy DVDs have been out for some time.

Yup I used GraphEdit too but how did you get Pro-Logic II output? whatever I tried I only ended up with Pro-Logic I mixing
I was going to try and make a Blade Runner 5.1 audio mix where the voiceover comes out of the rear channels instead of the center.
